*Anastasia's POV*

Klaus was right, Stefan had told Damon where I was & my knight in a black leather jacket came to my rescue.

"Are you ok? Did Klaus hurt you?" he asked spinning me around & looking me over.

"You know I don't really do spin rides at amusements parks, so vampire spin rides are just as bad," he stopped & held my arms until I got my bearings back.

"What happened to Stefan?" he questioned, as he didn't believe anything that had come out of Katherine's mouth.

"Everything that Katherine told you. He has surrendered himself so he could save his big brother. Be thankful you have such a loving sibling who is still around. You have no idea how lucky you are," I was feeling more drained than usual.

He tilted his head, "How about I take you home?"

"Yes, home. Thanks Damon," I just about fell into the car but I didn't make it that far.

I felt his hand snake around my waist, halting the painful stop I would've gotten if I had actually hit the ground. He held me closer against him.

"I think I might stay with you the night," he announced as he bundled me up & got me into the car.

"You don't have to, I'll be fine. I'm just tired, that's all. Besides, I don't think I'm going to be much company at the moment," I stared out the window as the scenery flew by.

"Did Klaus take Elijah to his siblings?" he asked, keeping his eyes on the road.

"You could say that. He daggered him & put him in a coffin, the same place his siblings are," my voice cracked slightly as I was reminded what I had witnessed.

"I'm sorry Stevie but at least he isn't dead," he replied.

"Yeah," was all I answered, as he pulled up outside my place, "Thanks again for the lift."

"You're welcome," he spoke & was beside my side of the car before I could even get the door open."

He held out his hand, helping me out of the car & walked me all the way to my door. I retrieve the keys from my pocket & unlocked the door. Damon pushed past me & did a sweep of the place. I rolled my eyes & walked in.

"Just checking in case Klaus & Stefan are waiting to ambush you," he put his hands in his pockets & glanced at me.

I raised my eyebrows, "Nice answer. Now you need to go & be with Elena."

He walked slowly toward me, "You know I'd rather stay here with you."

"No, no, no Damon, you can't. You need to go console Elena & let fate take its course. You need to pretend that I am your cousin, so I'm off limits. Trust me if things were different, I wouldn't be pushing you out that door," I found my hand on his chest & his resting on top of it.

He lent his head against mine, his eyes were closed, "I wish things were different but I would never do anything to harm you. Besides if things were different, you'd be with Elijah not me."

"It doesn't matter anyway," I felt his lips on my forehead.

"I'll call you later ok," he left me alone, contemplating how my life had become more messed up in a world that isn't even real.

****************************

I'm not even sure how much time has passed these days. I'm so tired of late but I don't know why. I'm getting plenty of sleep. I have messaged Dayna just to see if she & God of info have come up with anything new or if they've found something even remotely useful, but yet no response.
