The day after their mother came home, she left again. Two weeks after their mother had left, Nation ran into a problem. Considering her mother wasn't home, and wasn't the person she wanted to talk to about this anyway, she went to Cosmo's room. Nation climbed the stairs and knocked on Cosmo's door.
"Hey Cos? You got a minute?" She asked, her German accent seeming to be stronger.
"Yeah." He called. "Come in." She smiled and opened the door. He never said no. He looked up from what he was doing on his desk. He turned in his swivel chair to face her. "What's up?" He asked, with his big magnifying like glasses on. She chuckled.
"I can't take you seriously vizh zhose glasses on." She laughed, leaning in the door frame. He laughed too and took them off. He leaned over and patted the side of the bed. She closed the door and jumped onto his bed. He lounged in his chair, facing her.
"So what's up?" He asked again. She looked at the floor nervously. He looked at her, his eyebrow raised. "What did you do?"
"Nozhing. I didn't do anyzhing... I just vanted to talk to you about somezhing..." She said slowly, gazing at him for a moment then back at the floor.
"Such as?" He asked, eyebrow still raised. He acted like he was her father sometimes...
"Vell...you know Odysseus right?"
"Yes, why?"
She raised her head to look into his eyes. Unreadable. He was trying to study her, think of why she could be asking. Then it hit him.
"Does he like you?" He asked. He sounded a little angry. Yes, he was acting like her father now, and he was doing it on purpose. Was he...jealous? That's stupid, why would he be? Stop thinking about it like that! Nation shook the thought away.
"Vell, yes...and I don't like him... I just vish zhat he vould get over me and see zhat I'm not right for him. He doesn't believe me..." Cosmo nodded and let out a sigh, as if relieved.
She hoped that Odysseus would understand. Although he was sweet and nice, he wasn't at all her type. He was too soft and gentle to everyone. She couldn't find someone so soft attractive. She needed someone strong, assertive, someone who could protect her and give her all he had to offer. Someone like Cosmo... She shook the thought out of her head again. I said shut up! I'm not thinking about that right now. she mentally scolded herself.
"Well what do you want me to do about that?" He asked sitting next to her on the bed. After a moment of silence, Cosmo spoke again. "I always thought he liked you, you know. Ever since you came home from school that day...remember? When you beat up that girl who said-...said something completely untrue about you? And I saw him in the bathroom helping you clean the cut out on your leg?"
"Yeah, I remember." She rolled her eyes.
The girl was a bitchy, bubbly, blonde, bimbo who couldn't count to three. Her name was Monica. She was so rich and she was daddies little "princess". More like daddies big fat-ass. she thought.
But Monica still wasn't as rich as the richest guy in town. College student dropout, Frank N Furter. He was so rich, he could have anything he wanted with a snap of his fingers. He had earned a degree in science, but he dropped out after that. No more than one degree. That's all Nation had ever heard about him, but she had seen him once...he wasn't normal to say the least...
She shook her head and focused back on her brother. She couldn't keep losing track of her thoughts. He looked back into her eyes kindly.
"What do you want me to do?" He asked again, but softer.
