Fun, sure. About as much fun as getting eaten by a shark, maybe. And what was my life coming to, that discovering wizards exist and that i was the shit grandson of what was apparently a genocidal maniac equaled a vacation?
Yeah, you heard me. Wizards. Because that's the crap type of thing that happens to me all the time. Almost makes me wish for the days of blowing up school buses with cannons.
Oh, are you confused, then? Okay. Quick recap:
My name is Percy Jackson, i'm 17 years old, Son of Poseidon, most powerful half-blood alive, ya-da-ya-da-ya.
i've just spent what is basically six years chasing "the normal half blood experience", which i'm slowly coming to realize, doesn't exist (at least not for me). Really, i blame my dad. He swore a stupid promise not to have kids and then went on to do the frick-frack with my mom (ugh- what a crappy thought), like, immediately after. Which completely broke that promise. And he's a god, too, so the fates can't punish him. They can, on the other hand, punish me. The boy who was never supposed to exist in the first place. I throw off balance. I wasn't even supposed to be the one to complete that stupid prophecy that's ruled my life since ever.
But i did. And then I did it again. And and again. For someone that wasn't supposed to exist, i️ sure do keep help keep everything in balance. Now there's the irony.
So yeah. Wizards show up on my doorstep and invite me to a year of stupid-magic learning? It's a vacation from my life, that's what i️t is. Might as well take the chance. At least, that's the speech Annabeth spewed. She didn't exactly say it like that, though. She means well. She's probably one of the only people that can guess at what I've been feeling lately. If i'd been anyone else, things might have even turned out alright.
But I've got shit luck, unfortunately. I'm not someone else. I'm Percy-freaking-Jackson.
