"It's a shame were all in different classes." Kevin said, walking into his classroom as we headed upstairs
"You've got bad luck as well because Zach is in your class" Nick turned to face me before heading to his own classroom.
"Wait for us outside you classroom ok?" Carmella smiled and waved "Bye darling."
And just like that they were gone. I told myself to relax and that none of them would be able to get me. "I am safe here." I told myself. "Nothing bad can happen. Nobody even knows who I really am... but if they did then..." I was unable to finish as the teacher emerged to allow us into the classroom.
"Merla, right?" He asked with a kind smile on his face.
I panicked, but nodded "Yes... that is my name... what is the problem sir."
His voice dropped to a whisper "your foster family told me what happened to you so I know why you may not respond to some things, but I will make sure it does not happen again. Now take your seat, you are next to Zach and Amber over there." He pointed in the direction of an empty seat.
I wondered what he meant when he said "I know you may not respond to some things" I know I am a quiet person but was that part of my cover story or...
I focused on my work. It was simple really. Algebra. Unlike most people I enjoyed algebra more that anything else in maths. It may have been because it was what my father taught me himself before the... incident.
I got on with the first two lessons... writing notes when it was necessary and just getting on with my work. It was a shame I hardly knew anybody because I liked talking to people. I think that was a habit of mine.
It was break after the long, torturous hour of English.
I smiled "So glad that is over and done with for today."
"Yeah.." Nick agreed "English is possibly the worst lesson out there."
That's when everything changed. A girl with long brown hair covering her face entered the the room. Even though she was hiding her face I knew her all to well. She was my sister, Serena. I was confused as to why she was here but I remembered how our Souldern were linked. I was light and she was dark. I was good and she was bad. I was ying and she was yang.
I was hope and she was despair.
She was the reason we were in this mess.
