A student's secret

I stared at her for the longest time... wondering how Serena was here. I didn't know the link between the two of us or hiw strong it was but what I did know was that I couldn't let her get to my friends, no matter what.

"Umm... what the hell are you- Merla is that you?" She sat next to me making the others look in our direction.

"Oh I didn't think that our dad, you know the one you left with, I didn't think he would let you come to the school." I hopped she would take a hint.

"Our father is dead!" Clearly she didn't.

"Can someone explain how you two know each other?" Kevin asked.

I didn't want to tell them. I was nothing like Serena. I wanted them to be safe. Yet I didn't want to lie to them. Yet I did. And I regretted it.

I had to say something and I was thankfull to my foster family for creating an almost perfect cover story.

"On it!" I said before Serena could say anything "Well first i should say that we're sisters. Our father and our mother split up a long time ago, went with mum and she with dad. It is pretty simple really although I-"

"That isn't what happened." Serena interrupted "Our people rebelled and we both managed to escape to the crust in time. Our father is dead and our mother is missing."

Everyone looked at us with blank expressions. They were confused about the situation and who to believe. There was no choice. Serena had already told them too much. They had to know the rest otherwise if they were caught they may be killed or tortured for information they didn't know. I could not let that happen, not after what they did to Alena, my first and closest friend in the world. I didn't want history to repeat itself because I became too close and told a part of my secret.

"Alright... listen up and don't tell anyone." I lowered my voice You've all heard about the structure of the Earth right? Well we live in a place that is under the crust. A completely different world to yours and me and Serena... we are the princesses of that world. But the people rebelled and we just managed to escape. Now we are being hunted by soldiers because of our... powers." I explained showing them the bracelet that I wore with 4 charms "they represent creation which is the green one teleportation which is the purple one he fire which is the red one and hope which is the white one."

"I have almost the same but I have despair where she has hope." Serena smiled.

"So you're on the run because you live in a different layer of the Earth? That's stupid." Carmella sighed

"But that's our lifestyle. It's the situation we are in" I added

"And as much as I love seeing her suffer I gotta admit I miss home and I don't wanna die" Serena said.

The bell rang for third lesson. R.E.

"Ugh I am so clad your in my class Merla" Kevin groaned.

"R.E. right?" Serena asked. "I'm with you."

I groaned. Anything with Serena is a bad sign. I mean anything. She can ruin even the simplest of games and make my life a misery. We headed to our lesson all the same because I hade no other choice unless I gave mine and my sisters location away.

The room was places into four rows on each side with each row hosting two tables. It was nothing that I was expecting. I was sat on the row with Carmella, Kevin and Serena which I was thankfull for. It would have been hard to get through that lesson with people I didn't know.

"Alright," the teacher began "I want you in pairs to explain the four different units that we covered last year."

I turned to my right where Carmella sat and she began to explain the four units. I wrote notes in the back of my book while she spoke. It was nothing to hard as expected for the first day back. I was happy that Carmella and Kevin were taking this in a calm manor. It calmed me honestly knowing that I had good friends looking out for me. I promised myself that I would look out for them.

For now everything was calm. I felt like I was safe for the first time in my life. I was happy. I felt like nothing could stop me.

I always hoped it would stay that way.

For the longest time I thought I could be happy. Have friends and have my own family. I knew that I had to leave soon.

Why was my life always a mess?

There was only one person with the answer and he had gone missing a long time ago. I had caused his first death and he was alive again but he ran away saying he prefared being alone. I had loved him but he doesn't anymore.

However I had to know no matter what and Serena knew that because she brought me to the side.

"You're going to look for him?" She asked

I nodded "He is the only one that knows the truth. I need anwers."

"I'm coming with you"

"I'm have to-"

"WE have to find him."

I knew why she said that. We were a team. "Fine we leave at four. I have a theory of where he is but it's dangerous. He died and was reborn."

"Yes. But what if he isn't there?"

"We come back. It'll be suspicious if we leave on the second day. They'll find us if we don't keep our cover." She pointed out.

"Well then." She grinned "let's end this day and find him."

"So that he can help us with our future. He is a professional at that. After all Justin has the gift of future sight."
