The next morning at breakfast, Lucy sees Tyler putting peanut butter in his cereal.
"I'm concerned." Lucy says.
"It's in memory of Annika." Tyler says. "It's officially been 5 months since she died. She loved peanut butter.... she told me to put it in cereal and I loved it. Still do!"
"That's sweet." Lucy smiles. "I never met you, have I? I'm Lucy."
"I know." Tyler says. "You're kind of hard to forget when you're the replacement of my dead girlfriend."
"What?" Lucy gasps. "I didn't know! I'm so sorry!"
"No, it's fine." Tyler says. "I promised her I would love on. Just for her. And besides... the replacement's not too shabby! Would you by chance want to go to the movies with me?"
"What, like a date?" Lucy asks. "I just got out of a relationship."
"Exactly why you need someone who can treat you better." Tyler says. "Quoted by the og, Shawn Mendes."
Lucy laughs and blushes. "I'd love to."
Tyler smiles.
