A/N: this is just a short part that I planned to go at the end of seven. Nine will be a chapter on its own, and I just needed to put this out there to fill in the transition.
"Be Easy" by Ghost Loft
All I know, all I know is
That my heart aches from time to time
Haven't you, haven't you beenReading the questions in my mind
We don't have to speak
We don't have to try
Just be easy
//We don't have to show
We don't have to hide
Just be easy
Let it down, let it down now
It's much too late to make amends
All I see, all I see now
Is merely an echo of the endThe intense eye contact was too much for Calvin, who brought his sleeve up to his mouth and coughed before wiping his eyes and sniffing. He looked up at the lights in the cafe and thought for a moment. What if Ian ended up turning the meetup into another YouTube vlog or "expose" video? He told himself that he was just being paranoid and that it was cold to sit there and listen to Ian basically pour his heart out while remaining sticking to a fake persona to ultimately protect himself look strong the entire time. On the other hand, he did have reason to think in a way that may seem paranoid, especially after the first time the met each other in person. He sighed and looked at the man across from him.
"If you can tell me right here and now that you won't do anything else...I-I guess we could uh...start over."
Ian's eyes lit up at the statement, and the friendly smile reintroduced itself to the situation. As he took in the expression, Calvin didn't want to believe that Ian was tricking him. It just looked so fresh and genuine, almost as if the man could no wrong, almost an innocent look. And Calvin decided that if this was what Ian was putting out, he'd just have to take it. Of course, it still felt anything but new; however it was a huge change from Ian's attitude since their last encounter.
"I was thinking of taking down both videos, but I wanted to talk to you first," Ian revealed, glancing down at his coffee and wondering if it was still hot.
"Why?" Calvin asked dumbly.
"Well, like I said, I didn't realize the impact I was making. The channels I...attack in the series are ones I feel are deserving of such harsh criticism. Most times the people behind the content aren't really good people in the first place. I'm not the kind of guy who makes mistakes and just says 'oh well, it didn't work out' and thinks 'to hell with apologizing or making up for it'. It's just not like that for me. I understand that I crossed the line between criticising a channel on YouTube and attacking someone in a very personal way."
"And I am a bad person," Calvin said quickly, nervously taking a drink of his coffee.
"No, and that's just it, Calvin. You're not bad. You're...different and...special. That sounds generic, but there's just something about you," Ian finished, leaning toward Calvin and wiping a bit of whipped cream off of the younger's nose with his thumb, "that I can't quite describe." He put the finger to Calvin's lips, and Calvin looked into Ian's eyes as he hesitantly put pursed his lips around the tip of Ian's finger to taste the light, fluffy topping.
