Chapter 14- “Don’t Tell Him”
-:-:-
Annabelle
As the chauffeur pulled up on the side of the street, my nerves were everywhere. What if he saw me? What if he came home early? I kept asking myself. I knew that Harry was still here because his black Range Rover was still in the driveway. Finally, I had to remind myself that I trusted Anne and that she would take care of everything.
Last night, I had called Anne and asked her if I could come over to discuss about everything because I was very close with her, and I thought that she should know. Anne agreed, and I asked her if I could possibly come to her house when Harry was out-that way he doesn’t “interrupt”, as I explained to her. In reality, I really didn’t want Harry there because I simply could not deal with him as of right now. I knew that Harry would just keep asking about “us” and make me love him even more, if that was possible. But, with Grandmother getting sicker each day and William breathing down my back, I could not simply deal with all of this and Harry, who just added on to my list of troubles by invading my mind every day.
Looking back up at the house brought memories. The night that I ran away and came here, which was also the night that I first met Harry. He hated me at first, but then he soon warmed up to me. I wonder when he started to like me? I remember drawing Harry, while he was sleeping on the couch, and looking closely at everything. His eyes. His cute but messy hair. His very kissable lips. Perhaps that is when I first started to like Harry.
As if Harry was reading my mind, he came out of the house and started walking towards his black Range Rover. Harry was wearing some black skinny jeans, a black leather jacket, some black sunglasses, and a gray beanie to cover his messy curls. Just seeing him made me want to get out of the car, jump into his arms and kiss him as if there was no tomorrow. But, it took all of my self-control not to get out of this car. As Harry’s car was pulling out of the driveway, I swear that he looked right at me. But, he drove right pass us, as if he never even saw me.
“Ed?” I asked the chauffeur.
“Yes, Your Highness?”
“This car has tinted windows, right?”
“Yes, Your Highness, this car has tinted windows so the paparazzi cannot take any pictures.”
I breathed a sigh of relief. Even though I really wanted to see Harry again, I didn’t want him to see me right now. It would look really bad if I came to see his mum, but not him.
As I was getting out of the car, Ed stopped me.
“Your, Highness?” Ed asked.
“Yes, Ed?”
“What time do you need me back, Your Highness?”
I thought for a second or two and then responded,” It’ll be probably be an hour or so. You can run some errands while your waiting if you want to.”
Ed nodded his head. I closed the door, and started walking up to the front door. From behind me, I could hear Ed driving away. Ringing the doorbell, Anne immediately answered, ushering me inside.
“Annabelle! I’m so glad you’re here!” Anne exclaimed while giving me a bone-crushing hug.
“You too, Anne. Thanks for letting me come over.”
“Come, come! I’ve made tea!”
As I walked into the spotless kitchen, I could smell the tea. Anne received two mugs from the cupboard and poured the steaming tea into the mugs. She handed me my cup of tea and led us into the family room. Anne and I sat on the couch, but I faced sideways so I could see her. Taking a sip of tea, the warm liquid instantly made me feel warmer and safer. The tea reminded me of the time that Harry made me tea at the Bungalow. I smiled at the memory. Nowadays, almost everything reminded me of Harry.
