Today is the day.
My father is currently driving me to the airport. Why you may ask? Well, today is my final day in (Y/C) before I move to Japan. I am very excited to live in a new environment, yet a little nervous to live on my own for the first time.
My thoughts were cut short when my father stops the car. As I get out of the car, I grab my luggage from the trunk and was caught in my parent's hug.
"I can't believe my baby is all grown up!" My mother says as she cries onto my shoulder.
"It feels like it was just yesterday when I held you in my arms for the first time."
"That's right, my little girl is now ready to live on her own and to start a new life as an adult," my father adds, wiping a tear from his eye.
I smile as I return and embrace the warm, loving hug from my parents. "I'm going to miss you both," I say.
"Your father and I will miss you very much as well," mother says.
"I remember how much you wanted to live in Japan when you were younger and now it is finally happening. I'm so glad that you've made it this far!"
My father was right. Ever since I was 12, I was introduced to Japanese culture and found it very interesting and fascinating to learn about compared to other countries I have studied in the past. After learning more about the country, I made a decision to move out of (Y/C) to live in Japan after I graduated high school and made enough money to support myself.
Before I could say anything else, I remember that my plane leaves in 5 minutes. I quickly give both my mother and father a kiss on the cheek before making my way towards the airport terminal.
"Goodbye (Y/N)!" I hear my parents calling in unison, waving at me. "We love you, we'll miss you!"
I turn around and wave back. "I love you both too! I'll miss you even more! Goodbye Mom! Goodbye Dad!" I reply, wiping the tears that began spilling out of my eyes.
After our farewell, I head inside the terminal and make my way towards the plane. A flight attendant grabs my luggage and puts it in the overhead bin along with other people's belongings. I move and sit down on the seat next to the window where I can see the aircraft about to takeoff.
The airliner soon takes speed before lifting off the ground. I watch as the city below me get smaller as the airplane flys higher in the atmosphere. I sigh and slump onto the surprisingly comfortable airplane seat. However, there wasn't a lot of space for my legs to stretch, but it didn't really bother me.
"I can't believe it," I say to myself. "I can't believe this is actually happening. I'm flying to Japan, this is a dream come true!" I was very enthusiastic to finally move out of the country to live in Japan. Yet I'm going to miss my friends and family a lot while I'm gone far away from them.
I let out a low yawn and rub my tired eyes. I didn't get a lot of sleep last night since I was finishing packing up and had to wake up early to arrive at the airport. My eyes slowly began to close before drifting off to sleep.
