CHAPTER ONE
Starting at a new school didn't exactly go to plan; I imagined it to be just like any other but it wasn't. It was chaotic and completely different to any other day I had experienced, but that's not where it all started....
My alarm rang loud in my ear, causing me to roll over on my bed with a loud groan; my mom yelled at me to get my lazy ass out of my horribly comfortable bed and to go downstairs to get some breakfast. I waited a few second before opening my eyes to my brightly lit room; the sun shone in through the large windows above my bed and boxes half unpacked stood stacked and scattered around my room.
The boxes are there cause we just moved from Chicago to some smaller town somewhere in Minnesota ..... Not my choice but it had to be some for my parents' sake; my dad had been offered a new job here as a graphics and game designer and my mom was a part-time chef in the hotel a few blocks away.
Anyhow.... I rolled out of my bed and rubbed the sleep out of me eyes; making my way to the staircase, I thought what my fist day of this new school would be like; was it really strict or did the teachers care less about their students? Was it a really big school or was it more local? So many questions ran through my mind as I descended into the kitchen where breakfast lay ready on the table. A large plate of bacon was set in the middle of the table surrounded by plates and Bowles of scrambled eggs, fried tomato, mushrooms, sausages and toast. My mom never fails to impress when it comes to cooking....
I took a seat next to my grey eyed, blonde haired sister, Ann, she is fourteen, two years younger than me but she looks a lot older due to the way she dresses and the amount of makeup she wears...... When I first saw her with makeup on I thought my nightmares of Halloween had come back to haunt me but turns out her dream was to look like a plastic barbie-doll.... I think.
My dad has dark hair with flecks of grey in it, he wears geek glasses and has warm dark brown eyes; he greeted me as I sat down and took a sudden interest in the bacon and sausages lying on the table in front of us while my mom and younger brother sat down at the table ready to enjoy the food. Ben, who is Ann's twin is an outgoing kid with bright ginger hair and my dads eyes.
My mom took the moment of silence to greet her family and then start eating. I didn't have much time since it was a Monday and I still had to get dressed and get ready for school. Once breakfast was finished and I was completely stuffed, I ran upstairs to get changed; looking through the half empty boxes, I found a clean pair of clothes, baggy black jeans and a loose T-shirt and sweater along with my converse. Without hesitation, I marched into my bathroom and got changed as fast as possible. I brushed my teeth and combed my hair before looking into the mirror to stare at my reflection.
I have icy blue eyes which I get from my mother's side and jet black hair from my father's; I'm quite tall, about six foot and have tanned skin, most likely from my grandparents on my father's side being Hawaiian.
I'm the quiet type, not outgoing but not exactly shy either, I'm a bit of a geek; I love The Lord of the Rings movies and almost anything to do with technology. According to other people, I'm invisible and don't exist, you're probably thinking 'damn well that sucks' but believe me, being invisible is way better than being the centre of attention the whole time and not being able to get a days peace because girls are always swarming around you and have some creepy crush on you.
I slumped out of the bathroom, depressed about the way I look; why can't I look like other guys? Like a regular guy? A guy that has decent hair, not hair that just goes everywhere and sticks up in weird places.
Searching through a box next to the side of my bed I found a bag I could use for school; the normal type, nothing special or in the slightest bit interesting. I packed in a few things I'f need for any day of school; a calculator, entire pencil case (I know, why an entire one?) and my notepad and sketchbook.... Just preparing to be a loner as usual.
I went back downstairs where my parents were discussing something; my sister was watching TV and Ben was entertaining himself on his iPhone.
"Hey Will, can I catch a ride with you?" My brother asked, suddenly looking up from his phone; my sister looked up too; "Me too!"
I looked at them both for a moment; they're family, I have to be nice to them sooner or later.... I sighed and grabbed the keys to my Chevrolet which hung on a key rack near the door. "Fine." I said; " But don't get used to it."
The twins got up and grabbed their school bags; I kissed my Mom's cheek and said goodbye to my parents before opening the door into the bright sunlight with the twins following behind me. Quickly I unlocked my car and threw my bags in the passenger seat, my siblings got in the back and instantly buckled their seat belts; at least they know safety...
"Will?" Ann suddenly asked; I glanced at her and nodded;
"That's me."
"How are we supposed to fit into school since we aren't here at the beginning of the year?" She asked curiously; I had been thinking the same thing, even though I never fit in anyway.
"I don't know." I stated simply; "Just be yourself and I'm sure people will like you for who you are."
"Yeah right." Ben muttered; "I'm sick of moving. Mom and dad are always saying we have to leave even when we don't want to. It's like their hiding something from us or something."
"You know, I think that a lot too but it's not likely." I sighed, "Dad is highly qualified in what he does so a load of businesses want him to work for them; same with mom, she's a qualified chef and is skilled in all areas of cooking so a bunch or hotels would want her too."
"Why couldn't they just skip going to college and not be so smart." My brother muttered to himself; "It'd sure help things for us."
"I highly doubt that." I laughed, "No degree settles down to little to no work."
I turned a corner and the school appeared in front of us; my brother was in the middle of a sentence when he looked up to see the building. It was a grey and white triple storey building with double oak doors and large windows. Several columns lined the sides of the building as well as a pole with the flag of the United States of America flew high and proud.
Around the main building were several smaller ones; a large parking lot lay on both sides of the school and a big yard could just be seen to the back; the while thing had a tall stone wall built around it.
"Well..." I said slowly, "This is our new school."
