Pacing for the walk ahead of her, Amy May Leverson thinks about her day. As usual it was an extremely tedious day; starting off with her customary breakfast of toast, jam, and scrambled eggs. The day crept by taunting her with a magnificent sunshine filled day, while she was stuck inside going to her traditional boring classes. She has a great monotonous life doing repetitive things daily. What could be better than that!
One more year is all she can think of. One more year and she will be out of this rink-a-dink town. Nothing will ever change in good old Deming. No wonder "number one" dad joined the military, just to leave this place. Today he is leaving again, for the third time in four years. He'll be gone for 'just' five months this time. Too bad he can't take her with him.
Engaged in thoughts, a noise startles her. Glancing around her repeatedly Amy sees that there is nothing there, so she cautiously continues to walk.
Approximately three blocks away Amy sees a young girl, of about seven, crying on a porch ruining a bright yellow dress. A bizarre instinct tells her to flee, yet something is drawing her near.
Who knows maybe there might be something inspiring in this town after all, Amy decides as she walks toward the little girl.
"Are you all right sweetie?" Amy asks the little girl.
The little girl looks up and answers through sobs.
"No.
sniff sniff
"My mommy is gone and I don't know where she is. . .
sniff sniff
". . . she left a number but I don't know how to use the new telephone."
A greenish snot bubble slowly blows in and out, in and out of the girls' nose until, Pop! It splatters on the girls' nose and upper lip; casually she wipes it off as if it is a regular occurrence. Gagging, Amy tries to regain control.
"Why don't you ask one of the neighbors to help you?" suggests Amy.
"They're not home", the little girl replies, "Will you please help me? Please!"
~Yes. Lure her in, she's the one don't let her get away! ~
An encouraging voice says inside the little girl's head. Though the little girl's eyes give off a sinister glance she smiles amiably.
The look escapes Amy, but still she shudders and then asks
"What's your name sweetheart?"
"I'm Lilly what's yours and will you help me?" the little girl replies.
"Yes. . . Oh my name. It's Amy." Amy replies, uncertain if she should help the girl.
"That's a pretty name, now that I know your name we aren't strangers any more. I'm so glad your going to help me." Lily announced.
Suddenly she thought there was something strange about Lilly. Something about her made Lilly seem older than her presumable age. Amy shakes her head at the bizarre thought. This innocent girl needs her help, who is she to question the objective of a seven-year-old.
"Well come on let's go call your mother", Amy urges as Lilly leads her through the front door.
~This is the end; she'll never get away now! ~ A snickering voice says.
This time Amy can hear something that sounds as if it was whispering. That's when Amy realizes that there is something strange about Lilly. Why does she have proper speech but not know how to use the phone; something is seriously wrong here. She shudders and decides that again it was nothing. Strangely the front door slams behind her with a loud thud. Pulling on it she reveals that she is locked in.
A car door slams closed outside; a car starts. Weird Amy thinks, and then she proclaims aloud.
"Hey I thought you said that your neighbors weren't home?"
"Come on the phone is just down through that door, Amy." Lilly announces to her instead of answering her question.
Amy see the door ahead of her at the end of the hall, yet just for a moment she swears that something on the door had moved. No. Not something but someone; someone on the door who is in pain.Really weird she thinks and kind of scary.
"What kind of door is this" Amy asks.
"Mother claims that it is antique, however, I know that she's wrong. Hurry Amy we're almost there." Lilly claims as she opens the door and goes inside.
All of a sudden Amy's heart begins to race and her palms are sweaty. She starts to think that she is delusional for in the background she swears she can hear music. The music sounds weird, it's like some kind of beating. No. Not beating but chanting; the chanting gets louder and louder with each passing second. Her head starts to spin.
Amy wants to turn around and run like the devil itself is chasing her, she feels as if it really is, yet something or someone is reeling her in into the darkness.
Lilly looks at her and begins to chuckle. Its starts off slow and builds becoming a monstrous laugh. She then skips down the hallway and right through the door.
"Lilly, wait don't go in there!"
It can't be safe in there. She doesn't want to go in there, yet does She have a choice? Amy is thinking of away to save Lilly that doesn't require getting herself into of this predicament.
Ultimately she makes a decision and starts to follow Lilly through the door. Not realizing that there were stairs at first she stumbles, but quickly regains her balance. Still terrified out of her mind she thinks of the safety and goes on down. The chanting becomes so ear bustlingly loud that her heart races faster, her hear pounds louder, and her breathing thins; she is beginning to panic as she goes farther and farther.
There is a scream and all noise cease to exist. Amy can't even hear her own panicking sounds. Through her terror Amy thinks 'I have to help Lilly.'
She quickly runs down the stairs and finally reaches the bottom. She takes another step.
BAM. . .
All goes blank.
