Just as the sun was rising, Victoria slowly began to wake up, it took her a few minutes to adjust to the unfamiliar surroundings. She had to admit, the bed wasn't as comfortable, it at have been because she hadn't shared it with Tommy. After allowing herself to stay rested for a few extra minutes, Victoria finally climbed out of the bed and made the best up after herself. She woke up earlier than what she usually did so that she had more time to work on her appearance before their big day.
Once she had opened curtains of the large bedroom windows she took a minute to look out onto the street that the Shelby family lived upon. It wasn't the best place to live, you didn't often see the sun because of the smog that filled the air and there was a lot of violence in Small Heath. But it wasn't about where you are, it's about who you're with.
Victoria turned to face the room and picked up her cream silk night gown and slipped it on, tying up the belt around her waist. Just as she was finishing up there was a light knock at the door followed by a voice, "it's Tommy. May I come in?" He called out from the other side of the door.
"Come in." Victoria called out as she sat down on the stool at the white dressing table that sat opposite the bottom of her bed, looking back at herself in the oval shaped mirror. Tommy stepped into the room, closing the door behind himself before he walked over to where she sat, standing behind her as he looked in the mirror at her. He leaned down so that they were the same height and pressed a light kiss to her head, a content smile washing over him. "I have to say, I missed waking up and seeing you before I got up." He whispered softly, just loud enough for them both to hear.
The night before she had moved the things that she would require into the spare bedroom that they had initially set up for her. This meant that she was able to get ready without Tommy's prying eyes, she wanted her dress to be kept secret till the final moment. When she looked back at him in the mirror, Victoria took in his outfit of choice. Tommy was still dressed in his nightwear, a white cotton t-shirt, some plaid bed pants and a black robe pulled on over his shoulders. She couldn't help but find the change between his usual business wear to his early morning bed wear, quite alluring.
Victoria raised her hand to where he rested his head upon her shoulder and ran her fingers slowly down his cheek, "good morning to you too, Mr Shelby." Tommy wrapped his arms around her waist and let out a content sigh as he looked back at her with a smile. "Polly and Ada are planning on joining you shortly so that you can all get dressed together, just before we go you will be attending a family meeting with us so we can run through everything before we set off." He explained.
She smiled and ran her fingers down his cheek again before dropping her hands back to the dressing table, "sounds lovely. I shall be looking forward to seeing them." He pressed his lips to her cheek softly before he stood up straight, his smile eventually dropping. Slowly, he pulled out a small black package from the pocket on his night robe, holding it out for her. Without questioning, Victoria knew what was in the package and took it from him, slipping it into her clutch bag that was sitting on the dressing table, closing the clasp shut. She knew that Tommy would be able to come through with her requests, he was yet to let her down.
