On the final day on their trip Victoria woke up with the deep need to vomit. She clasped her hand to her mouth as she quietly ran to the bathroom.
As soon as the door was shut behind herself she leaned down to the toilet and the sickness came.
The past few days Victoria had been feeling nothing but nauseous but she hadn't told Tommy about it. There hadn't been an appropriate time to tell him, they were celebrating their engagement. She couldn't ruin it for him.
She knew exactly what was wrong with her which only caused her to feel more nauseous. No amount of praying and wishing that it would go away would work, it was real and it was happening.
A soft knock on the door broke her from her train of thought.
"Just a minute" Victoria called out as she quickly washed her face and cleaned up any mess she had made.
When she opened the door she was greeted by her aunt whom presented a concerned smile.
"Everything is fine, I think I may have eaten something that didn't agree with me.." Victoria lied trying to get rid of any worries that she had.
Her aunt put her hand softly on to her arm and let out a sigh, "We know about what happened to you back in Birmingham. I know what this is. I also know that you haven't told Tommy about your sickness."
Victoria lightly shook her head as she looked down slightly, "it's not the right time to tell him."
"Victoria, it's clear as day how much that man adores you, it doesn't matter what is going on. He would want to help you. So drop the protective walls you have put around yourself and let him in." She nodded giving her a light hug before wandering off again.
Her aunt's final words kept repeating in her head as she walked back into the bedroom.
By now Tommy had woken up and was sitting up contently against the headboard with nothing but a smile.
"We better get ourselves dressed, the car will be here to collect us soon" Tommy softly mumbled as he climbed out of bed.
