Hotel Confusion

"Wha? Where am I?" I asked, rubbing my head as I looked around the strange room. It appeared to be a pretty basic motel room.
"Ah, good. You're awake. I'll go tell Erin." A man said, drawing my attention to the corner he was sitting in. I didn't even know he was there.. The man stood up and walked out of the room, apparently going to tell this "Erin" person that I was awake.
I inspected the man as he walked out. He was very tall, maybe a few inches taller than me. I deduced that he was the large figure from my frightening encounter. His hair was a dirty blonde color and it was long and curly. He had a scruffy beard that looked wild, yet maintained. Personally, I preferred a close cut beard, but whatever floats his boat, I guess. To be honest, he looked like a biker crossed with a lumberjack.
He wore a red flannel shirt with a black leather jacket over it, along with dark jeans and work boots. We made eye contact as he passed and I noticed his green eyes, which reminded me of a forest. The man walked out of the room and I sat there, waiting for him and "Erin" to return. Wait, why am I just waiting around!? I should escape! But... I don't necessarily feel threatened or endangered... I decided to trust my gut feeling and just wait.
The door opened and the lumberjack man walked in with a smaller woman. I assumed she was Erin. She had blue hair that was a pixie cut. She was thin and athletic looking, but she had sort of wide hips, giving her a nice sized butt. Erin wore what I can really only describe as somewhat modern steampunk clothing.
She had on a brown leather corset vest-dress thing with a ruffled white "shirt" underneath. The dress went down to around her kneecaps and was open in the front. Erin had on short brown shorts and tall leather boots that went mid-shin. There were many intricate buckles and gears. It was honestly an odd fashion to wear around the city, but I didn't judge. I did like the goggles that were currently resting on her head, those looked neat. Something about her right leg also caught my eye. There appeared to be a lot of gears and metal below her knee. It finally occurred to me that she had a prosthetic leg, which also went along with the steampunk theme.
"Tsk, this is our guy? He looks like an idiot." The woman spoke, her eyes scanning across me. The man chuckled.
"Yes, yes! This is the man! Mark Lingo, yeah?" He said, reassuring his partner and addressing me at the end of his sentence.
"Uh, yeah. I'm Mark Lingo, who exactly are you and why did you kidnap me?" I asked, leaning forward on the bed.
"Oh no, friend! We didn't kidnap you! You passed out and we decided to bring you here until you woke up!" The "jolly-green-giant" said with more chuckles and a bit of an accent.   It was a nice accent, slightly thick but still smooth. "My name is Baine, Wulfs Baine. And this is my partner, Erin the Technic."
Wulfs Baine? Erin the Technic? These aren't real names! What the fuck do they think I am, a moron!?
"The Technic is not a last name, and Wulfs Baine sounds fake as fuck! Who are you!?" I wanted to know who these strangers really were and what they really wanted.
"Hey, take it easy pal! Those are the names we chose for ourselves during our own Phoenik Ceremony." Erin replied with a voice of steel.
"What the hell is that? Some kind of 'Great Awakening'?" I mocked.
"Well, basically." Baine replied. "It's when a Wielder child finally becomes a True Wielder. From there, they get to choose their new name. Kinda like we're being reborn with a new identity! That's actually where the name comes from, it's a combination of 'Phoenix' and 'Basilisk', two magical creatures with interesting meanings!"
"What the nerd over here is trying to say is, when you reach a certain age, you have a fancy ceremony and become your own person. We don't need a history lesson we have-" Erin interrupted Baine before I cut her off.
"Wait! What are you talking about? Wielders, True Wielders, Phoenix's and a, what, a bassik?"
   "No, a Basilisk." Baine corrected.
"Whatever! Care to explain a little more?" I replied.
"Well a Phoenix is basically a beautiful golden bird that lives for centuries before catching fire and becoming ashes. It is reborn into another beautiful form of itself. That's why its name is used for the first half of 'Phoenik'." Baine explained to me.
"Okay, and the Basilisk?" I asked, curious about this odd creature and ceremony.
"Ah, the Basilisk is actually a bit of a controversial beast. It is known to be deadly and is basically seen as a toxic and evil creature. The Basilisk is able to kill with a simple glance. It can only be killed by a weasel, although it is rumored to die by seeing its own reflection. It's said to even rot, infect and destroy the land that it touches, or simply breathes on!"
"Wait, if it's considered evil, then why is it used in this special ceremony?"
Erin decided to answer my question this time. She spoke up with an annoyed tone.
"Basilisk's are sometimes seen as representatives of certain alchemical qualities. Not to mention Arch-Wielder Xial, the first Arch-Wielder ever, had an odd fondness for the snake beast and saw it as a symbol of strength and will. Something like that.. Now, we don't have all day, are you done with your questions!?"
"No! I still don't know what 'True Wielders' and all that shit is!" I frantically replied. It was quite annoying that they wanted to steal me and then they didn't want to answer my questions about the bullshit they were trying to feed me. Speaking of, why am I even believing them in the first place!?
"True Wielders, friend, are people who can perform real magic! I understand there are people of this domain who do illusions to trick others into believing they can do real magic. But True Wielders are capable of REAL magic! They're what you call, uh, mages or sorcerers..or magicians!" Baine replied, scrapping his brain to recall the many names of magicians. This all sounded so fake!
Am I dreaming? I must be dreaming, this can't be real. The two strange people stared at me waiting for an answer. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know what to say. We sat quietly, waiting for someone to end the awkward silence...
