I processed all of the information that was given to me. This was all such a strange situation. I was confused about everything that was going on, and I was frankly scared of these strange people who seemed to be insane!
Not to mention, after sitting in silence for ten minutes, my mind wandered away from the people in front of me. I remembered Randall and became worried about my companion.
What if these people are lying? They seem pretty crazy.. What if they kidnapped me and hurt Randall!? I was snapped out of my thoughts when Erin cleared her throat.
"I can tell by the dumb look on your face that you're confused about everything. We aren't here to hurt you, we need your help... Although I really doubt your abilities." She stated, expressing her distaste with her last sentence.
"Arch-Wielder Rae believes there is a dark force moving towards Estheria. She also happens to believe that you can defeat the force." Baine continued.
Erin added, "We saw your performance. The goofball thinks you're an amazing, uhh, magician and surely you're a True Wielder in disguise. I severely doubt that. Your tricks were basic."
I was offended, to say the least. How dare she? I'm quite good at magic, granted it's not necessarily REAL, but it makes the people happy!
"Don't worry about Erin, she has extremely high standards. You seem to be very good and I don't doubt the Arch-Wielder or her opinion." Baine told me, clapping a hand on my shoulder as I stood from the bed.
"Then prove it. Prove you're a True Wielder." Erin demanded. Needless to say, I was screwed, but I didn't want her doubting me. It honestly pissed me off that she was unimpressed. I didn't even care that everything they told me sounded completely fake, I wanted to prove her wrong.
And that's when the fire started. Not like, the hotel caught on fire or something. No, there was a ball of flames spinning towards my face. A large hand reached out and wiped the ball away.
"Erin! What the hell do you think you're doing!?" Baine yelled at his partner.
"I want him to prove he knows real magic!" She screamed back.
I don't know if you've ever had a fireball thrown at your face, but it's really not something I recommend. However, it did confirm their story. They do know real magic and there's no doubt about that.
"He doesn't have to prove anything to you, the Arch-Wielder wants to meet him anyways, so there's no point in harassing him!" Baine told Erin, who seemed very reluctant to let this go.
I remembered that I just so happened to grab my jacket from last night. It's one that I use more for performances, but I was too lazy to pick another one when I was only expecting a thirty minute walk. I use this jacket for a trick where I make it look as though I'm creating fire in my palm, which is kind of why this jacket is a bit dangerous if not properly cared for.
There's a special pocket that has a lining of oil in it, along with various rough patches along the jacket. Simply wet your palm in the oil, quickly drag your hand along one of the patches, and you have a flame in your palm for a short amount of time. It seemed like a good enough trick to convince Erin that I knew real magic.
"I'll prove it. I'll prove to you my magic is real." I defiantly stated as I stood up with my hands in my pockets. "Watch."
Pulling my hands out of my pockets, I quickly drug my palm along the front of my jacket and held my hands out to the spectators. I noticed Baine was grinning as he peered at the blue-orange flame in my hand. Erin looked surprised, but still unimpressed. However, she shrugged and seemed to give in to the thought that I might just know real magic. Turning towards the door, she glared at Baine before leaving.
"Haha! You seemed to have shown her, friend! Now, I understand you probably don't trust us and we're probably interrupting something, but it's important that we take you to the Arch-Wielder as soon as possible." Baine said as he started gathering his belongings.
"Um, yeah okay. I guess I'll go talk to this lady." I replied. "But I have to get some things from my house first."
"Sure, sure! We'll stop there before we make our way to the Capital." Baine explained as we walked out of the hotel and called a taxi.
I was honestly tired of asking questions, I figured I'd find out what the 'Capital' is eventually, so I relaxed instead.=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•
