Mark POV
Everything from yesterday seems like a blur. I woke up in a hospital room, IV fluids to my left with a needle sticking out of my forearm, just at the crease where it bends. I was sore all over. I felt something on my face, but I couldn't touch it. It was an oxygen mask. I began to scan the room, it was very sterile looking. I did notice something on the chairs to the right that stood out.
Sean.
He was asleep on the rock hard hospital chairs, his head in the wooden arm rest, he was wrapped in a hospital blanket which basically was a towel. His knees were tucked into his chest. How can he look so peaceful even when sleeping? I thought to myself, he stayed the night..for me. He slowly began to flutter his eyes open. When he saw me, his eyes sprang open, he immediately bolted upright.
"M-Mark?.." he covered his mouth with his hands and began to cry. His eyes were so red, his hair was a mess, he looked unshaven, tired, beaten down.
"S-Sean.. how long have I been out?" I asked him, my voice all groggy and husky.
He walked over to the bed and broke down; his face was cradled in his hands, his elbows on a metal rod around the bed, one of his legs must've given out cause he was almost at the same eye level with me, but lower. His tears began to cascade on the blanket swaddling me.
He took a few shaky breaths before choking out an answer.
"a-almost a m-month.." he began to sob harder.
"W-What?! What happened?!"
-flashback- (Dialog heavy again oh boy)
S/J: Surgery?!
Nurse: Look, Sean, he's sustained severe injuries. He could start internally bleeding. Or worse.
S/J: Will he be alright?
Nurse: Of course he will. Now how've you been doing? I heard from your brother your not homeschooled anymore.
S/J: Yeah, Dr. Yintz said I was able to go home and my mum thought I would be able to go to public school. I was so glad. I was trapped there for, god I can't even remember..
Nurse: Are you still having a forced reversal?
S/J: It's been getting better..thanks for asking
Nurse: Well, you look a lot better than a few months ago
*After the surgery*
S/J: When will he wake up?! It's been almost three hours!
Doctor: Well the surgery was a success, but we had to put him under anesthesia even though he was already 'asleep'.
S/J: Will he ever wake up?!
Nurse: Of course, now how about you go back home, get some rest an-
S/J: No. I have to be here for him. I may have only known him for a few weeks. But.. I can't leave him. He might not remember who I am. He might get scared and call for me and I'm not in the hospital!
Nurse: Okay. You can stay. But you can't have a room. Patients only.
S/J: Perfectly fine with me.
-end of flashback-
"You've been here almost a month? Just for me?" I asked, completely bewildered
"Y-yeah.. I was scared about you. I couldn't have just left you here." He wiped away his tears.
"What happened to Felix?" I asked. I couldn't remember much, but I still wanted to know
"Heard he got arrested. But that doesn't matter. I'm so happy your alive, like you have no idea." He smiled and grabbed my hand. He slowly pulled the oxygen mask off my face with his other hand, he began to run his thumb gently over my cheek.
He then leaned closer until our noses touched. Even though mine was throbbing with pain (nose) I didn't care. He eventually just leaned in over the metal rod separating us for weeks and we made contact. I could yet again feel tiny tears drop down his cheek and feel a smile cracking in his face. I also had tiny raindrops of tears cascade down my swollen cheek.I never wanted this to end
