Her lips covered in her red lipstick, looking so soft and kissable. Closing in the gap, losing the last bit of restrain I had, my lips touched hers. That was the moment where all of those unbelievable and corny stories of fireworks and butterflies seemed real, where I felt a deeper connection with Lauren, where we became intimate with each other on another level.
"God..." I said, breaking the kiss. "Laur-"
I didn't even get the time to begin the sentence because her lips were on mine again and this time she wanted to show control, her hands got mixed up in my hair as she pushed my head down on to hers, so we could be closer to each other. Saying this felt like a dream was not a lie, the way she was kissing me, felt like she actually felt something, like it's not one sided like I've been thinking all these years.
"Dinah..." She said, after ending the kiss with a peck. "You don't know how long I've been waiting for you to do this."
"What?" Wait. What the actual... "What do you mean?"
And of course we got interrupted, a sound of someone coughing behind Lauren made us break contact. As soon as I saw who it was, my fists clenched.
"What the fuck do you want Brad?"
"Oh, nothing. Just wanted to ask Lauren if she wanted to dance with me." He said sounding like an angel. Angel my ass.
"Didn't you see we were busy moron?" I asked, once again. "Go away Brad."
"Can't Lauren speak for herself?" He tried again.
"I can. And like all of the times that you tried to move on to me, I'll tell you again the answer." I could sense her getting pissed too. "I. Want. Nothing. To do. With you. Got it?"
"Why? You're into girls now?" The look on his face changed to disgust.
"Does it concern you?" She asked, anger consuming her with all of this conversation. "If I like girls or guys, it has nothing to you. I don't like you, I like Dinah, if you haven't figured that out yet."
"Dyke." He said while he walked away.
"Hey Brad!" I called him. As soon as he turned around my fist collided with his face. "Think again before you say anything homophobic towards us ever again. Got it?" He nodded, holding on to his nose, and left.
"Dinah, you didn't have to do that. I couldn't care less about he says or what he does, really." She said.
"It's because of fuckers like him that we don't get to live and have a normal life."
"No, what? No Dinah, it's not." She said, holding my face in her hands, lowering it. "We get to live a normal life, we're normal babe. Look at us, what's wrong with this? Nothing. The only ones who can say anything about our lives are you and me, no one else, you know that."
"Yeah, I do. But these kind of comments have a way to make my mood change like this." I said snapping my fingers. "Even though I'm out, hearing this crap hurts."
"I know, but either way we have each other now. Nothing else matters, okay?"
"Okay Lo." I said kissing her again.
"By the way, nice punch." She commented and winked afterwards. "Who knew you could do that? You almost knocked him out."
"If that's what it takes to keep him out of your way, I'll do it again."
"Thank you. For, somehow, defending me." She thanked me.
"Don't thank me baby, I'll always be here to protect you from those assholes, as cheesy as it sounds."
"My knight in shining armour! What time is it?"
"4 am probably. Do I look like a clock?"
"Jackass. Let's just show everyone the front door because I'm sleepy."
"Everyone? There's like ten people left, you idiot." She said, showing me that the party was indeed over. "Mani, Camz, Shawn, Ally, Keana and her boyfriend and Alexa. Let's just go to sleep, they can leave by their own feet."
We went upstairs, Lauren borrowed some of my clothes and stepped inside the bed. Something we've done a million times but tonight, after everything, seeing her laying next to me made me blush like a tomato. The reality of what happened between us two dawning on me.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Lauren asked, smiling sweetly.
"I'm not looking at you. I spaced out, got distracted." I lied. "Sorry, let's go to sleep?"
"Cuddle me, DJ."
After that, and with me being bigger than she is, I became the big spoon as always. No more talking, about the kiss, about Brad or about what would happen tomorrow. Just us two, together in silence and falling asleep in each other's arms.
"Wake up! Wake up Dinah!"
"Why, Lauren? Why the fuck would you wake me up?"
"Because right now, Camila and Ally are legit sprawled together on the floor next to a puddle of drool. Not to mention, your dear friend Normani who's completely hangover." She said, sounding bored. "You need to help me fix this."
"I'm gonna kill them. I'm gonna kick them out my way so they can learn how to fuck-"
My lips got attacked by Lauren's, an instant smile forming on them. Totally forgetting about all the mess I would be facing once I reach the kitchen or wherever they are, and getting consumed by Lauren's scent. "Good morning, by the way. Let's go!" Stupid ass. Kissing me like that and then leaving my ass feeling lonely.
