A/N: This story is a Prequel/Spin-off to the story; 'The Good Parents'. An idea was suggested to write a short story about the two main characters of one of my stories. To those who read it, 'Mee's real name has just been revealed to you at the SYNOPSIS/INTRODUCTION page. Lol!

Everything here is fictitious. Names and events which you might find similar are purely coincidental.

Any military inaccuracies that exist in the book, will be because:

-My aviation language is not strong, I did not finish my training  due to ahem... some disapproval, so I had to quit flight school. Therefore, I wasn't able to obtain a Private Pilot License.

-Second, I'm not a helicopter pilot. I am only able to fly a trainer aircraft. Forgive me, But I'll do my research more and try my best alright?

ONE

A cool wind picked up, blowing dust around the group of soldiers, hidden behind the tall grass.  The once quiet forest was drowned by the sudden roar of an incoming Chinook's engine. Alexander looked up and watched in the dark as it descends down the ground, while the tall grass swayed, like the waves of the sea.

"Let's go boys!" their squad commander motioned, as the belly of the helicopter opened.

Faceless men clothed in black, and night vision goggles emerged from the tall grass and one by one and ran inside the aircraft, rifles are raised as they covered each other backs before boarding, trying to see if there were any threats. One just can never be too sure.

"Westwood, get  them ready for evacuation." The team commander said, turning to his direction.

"Roger that..." was Alexander's reply and he quickly obeyed.

The ground team climbed aboard, and two of them was carrying an injured soldier and a few rescued kidnapped victims. It was Alexander's job to tend to them as he is the medical officer of this squad.

The radio crackled with the communications between the pilots, and finally, the aircraft lifted its huge body off the ground. The bird descended slowly with a throaty roar, its rotors kicking up dust. Suddenly the sound of gunfire was heard, the soldiers snapped their heads to its direction, and saw a number of enemies about to approach the site. The enemy force seemed to have caught up with them.

More shots echoed in the still night air.  Alexander could hear them shouting at each other in the distance. Sure, it was not his first time crossing enemy lines, and participating in risky missions, but he still felt emotions such as fear.

The helicopter ascends mid-air as he looked from the small window. His eyes widened as a flash of light flew towards their aircraft.

The bird suddenly tilts, catching everyone inside off-guard with its sudden movement, which rocked the interior of the aircraft. If not for the cargo seat belts, he would have ended up on the opposite side. The helicopter had successfully evaded the missile, hitting the trees instead, and an explosion following afterwards. The bird shot up higher into the air, increasing altitude.

Alexander sighed in relief despite the sinking feeling inside his stomach, due to the sudden increase of altitude. He glanced at his masked colleagues, their faces might be covered like him, but he knew most of them felt the same way.

 **********

"RPG! break right!" her co-pilot warned, seeing a man holding a large  RPG from down below the ground.

"I know..." Annie's reaction was calm, but her voice felt tense.  In a quick reflex, she tilts the aircraft a little sideways, avoiding the round, a loud explosion followed, as the missile hits the trees.
