  Chapter I -Trapped

I was fifteen years old when it happen.

It was an ordinary day. I woke up, went to school, came home, and went to bed, but something woke me. I got up to see what it was, but when our house was empty, I went back up stairs. After sitting in bed for about ten minutes, trying to fall back to sleep and failing, I got up, and walked over to my window. I push my mint and cream curtains out of the way, and look out the window. I stood there, admiring the stars, trying to find all the constellations, for I knew them all.

I look up at the sky and saw a constellation that I was unfamiliar with. All my life and I have never seen this large array of stars before. I grabbed my phone, which was charging by my bed, and Googled "all the constellations" and clicked on the first website I saw. After I looked at at least 20 websites, I finally gave up. This constellation has never been seen before. But a hundred stars can't just appear over night. I thought.

I stood there, thinking about how these stars went unnoticed. I rubbed my eyes, just now starting to get tired again. When I open my eyes I was not in my small, but nice little room. I was in space. Immediately my hands shot up around my neck. I gasped for air, and held my breathe. I stood in there, standing on nothing, yet pinned down like I am back on Earth. After a few seconds, a thought pops in my head. How am I not dead yet? I am in space. Right?

I looked around. I saw many of the stars, and constellations I was familiar with, but I won't bore you with the details. I can see Earth a thousand miles away, and Venus just behind it. I turned around to see Mars way off in the distance. I move my arms around to feel the empty space, making sure this wasn't some trick. How am I in space? How am I not dead? Is this even real? I looked around, a million more questions running through my head.

Just as I turn my body back towards Earth, I hear an asteroid coming my way. I cock my head to the right, and saw the large rock hurdling towards me, going at least 170 mph. The asteroid flew by me, and I stumbled back, not quite used to walking in space. Especially since there is this strange gravity, which perplexes me. I am being pulled to nothing. I am just standing in mid air or lack of it.

I watched as the asteroid fell towards the Earth, bursting into flames seconds after this large rock hit the atmosphere. The asteroid slowly disintegrated, only half the size it used to be when it hit the water sending waves in every direction. I heard a loud boom. If you don't know, this is the delayed sound of the asteroid breaking the sound barrier.

I sat there on the nothingness of space, stunned by everything that has happened. Another realization hit me. There is no air here! What have I been breathing in? I took a deep breath, yet no air filled my lungs. Nothing did.

About a hundred thoughts ran through my head, most of them gibberish, but one thought was clear. I needed a place to stay so I don't get hit by an asteroid or something. I got up and started stumbling forward. I felt like a baby horse taking it's first steps. I fell down, face first. You can do this. I thought, even though that never works on me. If I think I can do it I can't, and if I think I can't do it I can. It is weird.

I got back up and began to walk slowly, taking each step one at a time. After a few more falls and fumbles, I started to get the hang of this walking on nothing thing. I explored a small area, finding a large rock in orbit through my constellation. I curled up on the rock. Somehow I wasn't cold, but that doesn't surprise me. After my day, I can handle not being cold.

Just as I started to drift to sleep, my eyes shot wide open! My family! What about my family? They will be worried sick, and must miss me so much!... I miss them so much. I could already see their faces. My mum's short golden hair, put up in a pony tail. Her soft brown eyes and elegant smile. My dad's dark brown hair, green eyes and his big smile that could make anyone just as happy as he is. My sister, oh I will miss my sister more than anyone else. Her long, dark brown hair and her pale blue eyes. I will miss my family so much. And my friends.
