Skye's POV

It's almost a month now since Kayla started operation get me to move on from Tammy and I have to admit, its working. I had so much fun spending time with Kayla that Tammy almost never crossed my mind.

Every day, Kayla made sure we do something fun together, big or small. She even made doing chores fun which I'm still pretty much impressed with.

As our summer days together continue, my feelings for Kayla grew deeper but with that, came the fear of losing her and the friendship we built over the years if she found out about my feelings. I realized that I need to distance myself from her for at least a few weeks to give myself time to get use to the idea that even though I'm in love with Kayla, the relationship we have we'll never cross the line of friendship and that's okay. I'll be okay.

Now, it's been two weeks since the last time I talked to Kayla and truth be told, I'm missing her like crazy! This must be what a withdrawal feels like.

++++

It was 7:00 pm in the evening. I'm sitting at my balcony, looking at the sky and admiring the view when a familiar voice called, "Skye!"

My heart started racing when I realized that it was Kayla's voice, I looked to the source and saw Kayla with a bright smile on her face, holding a telescope and a folded blanket.

"What are you doing here!?" I asked

"I wanted to go stargazing but the view from my house sucks so I decided to come here!" she replied "I called Uncle Tom earlier and said I was coming over! Meet you at the backyard!" then ran inside my house

I guess I wasn't able to stop myself as I quickly ran to the backyard. When I got there, Kayla was already sitting on the blanket laid over the grass, the telescope on a stand in front of her.

I started walking towards her while my heart raced even more. I don't know if she noticed how nervous I was as I sat next to her.

"Hey..." she glanced at me and smiled

I guess a cat got my tongue as I failed to reply a simple "hey" back.

"Are you okay? your cheeks are red" Kayla said, staring intently at me

"What? No they're not!"

"Yes, you are" Kayla then reached and placed her palm on my forehead "Are you sick? Do you have a fever?"

I removed her hand and moved a bit farther from her, "I'm fine, don't worry" I said, not meeting her gaze

I can feel Kayla staring at me, as if she's trying to read my thoughts. I glanced at her and smirked, "hey, you're supposed to be looking at the stars not me"

But instead of saying something, Kayla moved closer, wrapped her arms around my waist and pulled me into a tight embrace, "I'm sorry" she whispered

"What for?"

"I know you wanted to be alone for a while, but I just couldn't help it. I was worried that something happened so I kinda made up the stargazing thing to have a reason to come here" she explained, hiding her face on my shoulder, "I just really miss you Skye..."

My heart felt like it was about to burst. Did my absence made that much of an impact on her?

I smiled as I hugged her back, "I missed you too, you idiot"

Kayla pulled back slightly and pinched my cheeks, "You dummy! I thought I did something wrong! I was about to cry!"

I looked at her eyes, and true enough, they were a bit teary.
