Pulling the car over and putting the gear in park Screana glanced at the child once more through her rearview mirror. He was sound asleep and his unkept hair was glued to his forehead with sweat. She sighed and threw her weapons in the front seat before stepping onto the busy streets of Brooklyn. Slipping the passenger door open she silently unbuckled the child careful not to wake him. When she picked him up he stired a bit and she held him close to her for heat, his head resting on her chest. With the child safely with her she walked down the street to a small apartment, its red door and gardenia flowers standing out on the busy crowded streets. Walking up theiced steps Screana tredged skillfully. When she made to the top her hands grasped the small string and rang the bronze bell above.

She waited patiently rocking the child back in forth until the door slightly opened. The inside was black without light but she knew of a prescence. In a hushed tone Screana spoke in Russian.

" Nanny open the door, I need you help and you are the only one I trust in my time of need."

The voice that answered was frail and weak but held much power, It was thick with a Russian accent.

" Little dragonfly, is that you?"

" Yes nanny it is me"

The door creeped open to show the beginning face of an elderly woman with stark white hair and faded blue eyes.

"My child, my little dragonfly.' She stroked screana's cheeck softly before pulling her in quickly. She mumbled some words in Russian as she checked Screana over for any scrapes in brusises as she had always done. Her motherly voice soothed Screana.

" Nanny I need your help."

" My child please come sit, your freezing and hurt." She touched Screana's arm with her frail hands and brought up blood.

" yes nanny" Screana walked through the small corridor to nanny's parlor. The room was plush with velvety walls and old Russian artifacts that nanny prized. The couches where a soft dark velvety green, Screana could remember laying on those couches while Nanny read to her. The colored glass lamps where turned on and added light to the room with the corroder had none.

Screana gently laid the child down onto the sofa and wrapped her jacket around him tighter. She brushed the child's hair away and grazed his cheek before turning to nanny.

Nanny had grown plumper in her years since she had moved out of the mansion. Since she had stopped attending to Screana. Her hair had grown loinger as well but still hung in its usual braid down her back. Her eyes held power and where rimmed by glasses with beaded ends that ussualy laid around her neck. Nanny had changed but in a way had stayed the same.

Nanny smiled her perfect row of teeth and embraced Screana into a hug. Screana sighed hugging nanny back enjoying her scent and prescence. Missing her childhood. To Screana Nanny had never just been a caretaker to her. Payed to watch her, but family. A grandmother. Her only family.

" my darling, the bathroom has fresh linens and clothes. Go clean up then we shall visit. I see you have been galavanting around" Screana pulled away from the hug and nodded.

" Yes Nanny"

" When you come out ill have a snack ready for you" Screana smiled and nodded before looking at the child once more.

" I will watch him little dragonfly. You have not to worry." Screna smiled again and nodded to nanny before making her way down the hallway and up the stairs to the bathroom.

The bathroom was white with a little barred window on the side, showing the snow falling outside. The mirror was filled with little pictures some of which Screana remembered, some of Nanny's homeland and the family she had left behind, as well as the institute for hunters there. Some where even of her in her childhood. The side of the counter was filled with perfumes and soaps. On the toilet seat was the clothes Nanny had neatly set out to be worn. They weren't Screana's normal hunter attire but they would do. Slowly stripping to her undergarments Screana again examined her body. The bruises from the newborn vampire she had killed just the other day where fading and the stiches in her hand had disapeared due to her accelersated healing, leaving only a small thin white scar as a reminder.
