The Boy With The Bread

Chapter 4

Peeta:Hey I'm about five minuets away, be ready (;

I don't know why but this sends butterflies to my stomach. 

Katniss:OK see you in five minuets then (:

At the last moment, i decided to just spray a little perfume on, I find one In my bathroom that reads "Florescent Forest" and i put some on. It reminds me a lot of home. I stand and think about this for just a moment but not to long because i hear a car horn outside. I gather my stuff and slip out the door...

"Hey Kat! You look nice today!" Says Peeta,I can feel my cheeks blushing like crazy, what did he just call me? "Did you just call me Kat?" I say with a giggle. "Ya i guess i did, why do you not like it?" Says Peeta alarmingly. "No! I do its just.. No ones ever called me that before." I say with a little giggle. "OK well we should get going now," says Peeta. I sit down and he cranks up he radio and we sing and talk all the way to school, its the most fun I've actually had in this new town ever... I realize that I never find my self giggling, Peeta is the only person in my life that can actually make me feel this happy, so far at least...

When we get to school I get out of the car "Wait" says Peeta. "Let me get a picture of you for my contacts photo" "OK" I say. He snaps the picture and looks at it carefully, the look on his face is pure happiness. "Gorgeous, just like always." He says so charmingly i almost loose my balance. I blush and snap a picture of him as we walk into school together....

We sit down in algebra and chat a little, i love the way his big blue eyes shimmer and sparkle when he talks, his teeth are so white they are almost blinding! The way his hair falls across his four head and..."Katniss?, Katniss can you hear me?" " Oh uh... Sorry i spaced.." I say. "Ya I could tell." he says with that cute little smirk he does. Uhgg and there are those dazzling teeth again... Just at that moment Finnick and the group walk in and sit down at our table.  "Hey guys. Ooh did we interrupt something?" Says Finnick in a suggestive tone. "No, we were just talking." I say obviously unconvincingly.... We talk a bit for the rest of class. Its really great to have friends like this, I've never really been a part of a group before, it feels good to fit in somewhere... The bell rings and we're off to the next class. As I exit the room I realize I forgot my phone on the table."Oh crap my phone!" "Do you want  me to get it for you?" Says Peeta. Of course he would offer to get it, how is he such a gentleman? "Nah, its fine I got it. Ill catch up with u guys in class." I say. "Ill save you a seat then." Says Peeta Cheerfully. "Thanks." I say. I'm feeling abnormally happy today so I give him a small smile. The others don't  think much of this but to me that was rare, I hardly ever smile at anyone unless it's prim....I walk back in the class room and retrieve my phone. As I'm walking out I hear my name being called. "Katniss! Hey!" I whip my head around to see Gale, the dude that I saw in the lunch room yesterday. How did he know my name? I don't remember telling him my name..."Um hi." I say unimpressed. "Hey whats up." He says panting. Was he running through the halls to catch up to me?"Nothing really"I say." Well I'm having a party tonight cuz my parents are out of town, do you want to come?"  I think this through for a bit before I say anything. "Depends, can I bring some friends?" I say. "Sure! Just mabey not Mellark." "Why? Whats wrong with Peeta?" I say annoyed. "He's just..I don't know" "Peeta's my friend and I'm not gunna just not invite him, So i guess i won't be attending your party..." I start to walk away. "Sure, fine, bring him just... be there OK?" He says. "We'll see." I say with a smirk. I start off down the hall. "You better be at that party girl!" Yells gale down the hall smiling. "Ya Ok" i say sarcastically with a smile. Just then, the bell rings"Oh shit I'm late!"

I calmly slip into the back door of my class room hoping the teacher wont notice, but of course, the whole class  turns around."Curse you nosey students." I say in my head. "Ms.Everdeen why are you late?" Says the teacher in her prissy accent. "I uh..." "Do you have a pass?" "Well na..." I stutter. "Mrs.Trinket she was getting my phone, I left it and she said she would get it for me." Says Peeta. I hold up the phone so she can see."She gives a suspicious look. Peeta covered for me, why would he do that what if she found out that it wasn't his phone?I looked at Peeta and then back to Mrs.Trinket. " Very well then, but next time you will be written up for being out of area with no pass." I look at Peeta with a questioning look. Mrs.Trinket turns around, "Sit down Mrs.Everdeen you have already wasted enough of my class time today." She says with an extremely dramatic eye roll.
"Peeta why did you cover for me? You could've gotten in trouble for that." "Because your my friend and that's what friends do. Plus if you would have let me get your phone for you i would've been back before the bell. What took you so long anyways?" He says"Gale Hawthrone stopped me. He wanted to know if I wanted to go to a party tonight." "Ah man why didn't he invite us?!" Says Finnick with an exaggerated sarcastic tone from the seats behind me and Peeta. He and Annie laugh. "I actually asked him if you guys could come and he said sure, what happened between you all? Do you not like him or something?" They all share a serious look, Annie looks slightly hurt. "It was just something that happened a while ago." "Oh,well..." "MRS.EVERDEEN THAT IS THE SECOND INTERRUPTION THIS CLASS!" says Mrs.Trinket. I can already tell this is going to be a long day...
