My life had become consumed by work for the Order. Tonks and I were staying in Hogsmeade village and often patrolled Hogwarts to make sure everything was in order. I hadn't seen any of the Diggorys in months by that time and wasn't kept too up to date unless it had to do with Voldemort or the Order.
It was now October and because it was the first Hogsmeade trip for Hogwarts students, Tonks and I decided it would be a good idea to patrol the area. We walked outside the Three Broomsticks and scanned the area. Everything seemed perfectly fine until I heard Harry's voice.
"Mundungus!" he had called and I glanced over at him. Tonks and I made quick eye contact before briskly walking over there. Of course something happens in the most popular place in Hogsmeade.
The small man with ginger hair dropped his suitcase, spilling out all of its contents. Most of the things looked like complete junk, yet other seemed very familiar to me somehow.
"Oh, 'ello, 'Arry," Mundungus greeted, trying to sound totally casual and not at all suspicious. Tonks and I looked at each other once again, and rolled our eyes in synchronization. "Well, don't let me keep ya."
"Are you selling this stuff?" Harry questioned before Mundungus could rush off with all of his objects he was grabbing from the ground.
"Oh, well, gotta scrape a living," Mundungus defended himself with a nervous laugh. "Gimme that!" he added once Ron attempted to grab a silver object.
"Hang on," Ron slowly spoke, making a connection between the object and a memory. "This looks familiar-"
"Thank you!" Mundungus snapped, seizing the goblet out of Ron's hand and stuffing it back into his old suitcase. "Well, I'll see you all- OUCH!"
His words were interrupted when Harry shoved the man against the wall of the pub by his throat. The action made my eyes widen and Tonks told me to wait until something happened. Harry pulled out his wand and pointed it at Mundungus.
"Harry!" Hermione let out a frightened shriek.
"You took that from Sinus's house," Harry accused, very close to Mundungus with a threatening glare. "That had the Black family crest on it." I frowned, now glaring at Mundungus. How could he steal something from Sirius...?
"I- No- What?" Mundungus spluttered as he went an odd shade of purple.
"What did you do, go back the night he died and strip the place?" snarled Harry, not faltering. This boy is unlike anybody I've ever seen... I shook my head with a small grin.
"I- No-"
"Give it to me!"
"Harry, you mustn't!" squealed Hermione.
There was a noisy bang, and Harry flew off of Mundungus's throat. And then, he disapparated. Harry swore as loudly as he could and swung around to try and find Mundungus.
"COME BACK, YOU THIEVING–"
"Don't even worry about it, Harry," I told him, giving him a small smile and a shrug. Tonks seemed to be giving him the same emotion-free look she gave everyone recently. Me included.
"Mundungus will probably be in London by now." Tonks continued for me. "There's no point yelling."
"He's nicked Sirius's stuff! Nicked it!" Harry argued, his eyes blazing with emotion. I presented him with a sympathetic look, but he was no longer paying attention to me. Obviously, it meant more to Tonks because Sirius was her family.
"Yes, but still," said Tonks, who acted like she was totally untroubled by what Harry was telling her. "You should get out of the cold." The three complied, but I was sure this wouldn't be the last of it.
"Tonks-"
"Don't worry." She interrupted me with a straight face. I frowned. Of course I worried.
"Please, Tonks." I sighed. "Can you try and talk to me?"
"There's nothing to say." Tonks insisted.
I nodded. "Alright. But just so you know, I'm here for you. You and I only really talked for the past year but I remember you. You were in my year at Hogwarts. Tonks – please talk to me. Or try to whenever you're ready."
Tonks said nothing as a reply and I assumed she was thinking things over. Or completely disregarding my words.
"You know," Tonks began. "You were always a little troublemaker at Hogwarts. You've changed." I laughed lightly.
"I promise it's just William's influence on me." I teased my boyfriend. "Perfect Mr Head Boy," I added on and Tonks gave me a ghost of a smile. An owl came flying towards us and it dropped a letter above us. I reached out and grabbed the envelope before checking who it was from.
"Is it from Bill?" Tonks looks a little amused, but doesn't quite smile. I nod my head, ripping open the envelope and reading through it.

Dear Katherine,
How are you? I miss you. Mum doesn't quite understand why I would miss you if we've only really been in a relationship for under a year. But that's all right. My job has been rather demanding, even if it is only a desk job. Please stay safe. I know you're near Hogwarts so nothing much should happen under Dumbledore's watch. Just don't get yourself into unnecessary trouble. I love you. Hope to see you soon.
Always, Bill.

I smiled throughout the whole letter and pocketed it into my coat for safe keeping. Everything had escalated quickly in our relationship and it made me quite sad that Mrs Weasley still didn't entirely believe in us. But I knew that we loved each other so it was all right.

Tonks went to meet up with Proudfoot, Savage and Dawlish in the Three Broomsticks. I walked along Hogsmeade since it was soon time for the Hogwarts students to go home. Nothing dramatic had happened apart from the Harry and Mundungus incident.

"It's nothing to do with you, Leanne!" A girl shouted loudly. I made my way towards her voice and saw that it was a Gryffindor girl named Katie I recognised Fred and George telling me about, due to Quidditch.

Her friend went to grab the package Katie was holding, but she was resistant and held onto it tightly. I also noticed Harry, Ron and Hermione nearby, looking curiously onto the scene. The package soon fell onto the ground during the fight and then it happened.
