Kate Fontaine

It had been several months since Christmas. Students were back at Hogwarts, and Dumbledore had assured me that I wasn't needed there right that second and that I should continue my regular Auror work as I lived my life. Of course, I wasn't really living a normal life at all, but I still thanked Dumbledore. It meant more time with Bill, despite us always being so busy because of work.

But Bill's mother was visiting soon, and that made me happy and slightly nervous. As almost everyone in all of England knew, Mrs Weasley was not very happy with Bill and I's relationship when it first started. However, she was swayed when we announced our engagement at Christmas, and of course apologised for her foul attitude towards me.

Still, I was extremely worried. There was an instant physical attraction between Bill and me when we met for the Triwizard tournament over a year ago. Just the thought of the tournament made my attitude and mood even more negative. It was the day of my little brother's death. Sure, he was never my biological brother, but I loved Cedric Diggory nonetheless.

"I'm nervous," I admitted when I was changed and ready with Bill. I had been tugging at the lace sleeves of my top for a while, and I could tell it was somehow affecting Bill as well.

"Don't be," Bill said like it was just that easy. "Mum loves you."

"Your Mum doesn't even know me." I had corrected, raising an eyebrow. Of course, Bill knew this was true.

When Bill and I started dating she didn't even want to meet me the first time. Even though she knew, at the time, I was a Diggory and that my adoptive father was close to Bill's father. But he always tried to brush it off as if it meant nothing to him when his mother said she wanted nothing to do with me. However, I knew differently.

"That's why she's getting to know you, Kate." Bill chuckled, wrapping his arms around me. He pressed a kiss to my left temple and left his lips resting there as we embraced, soaking in the feeling of the other being there.

We weren't sure when I was going to be called back to Hogwarts, and we were always busy, so we had to make sure we appreciated every second together. The situation might have been easier if the circumstances were different.

A knock on the door sounded, interrupting Bill and I's romantic moment, and I bit my lip nervously. "You know what," I began, already stepping backwards. "I'm kind of nauseous right now," Bill rose an eyebrow in amusement. "I think I might-"

Bill rose his wand and pointed it at me, casting the sticking charm onto my feet so I couldn't move. "Katherine Jane Diggory-Fontaine," he said my full name and I rolled my eyes.

"Yes, grandma, what is it?" I asked sarcastically.

Bill laughed before I groaned, knowing I would just have to try my best to get along with Molly. Sure, she was a fantastic woman, and I completely respected me, but I was afraid that she would somehow convince Bill to break up with me and end the engagement completely.

"Coming, mum," Bill called. I grabbed my wand from the back pocket of my jeans and muttered the counter-spell for the Sticking Spell to unlock my feet from the ground.

With my wand back in my pocket, I joined Bill at the door and he opened it, revealing Molly grinning behind it. She looked far more joyful than when we left Molly last after Christmas.

The departure of Ginny, Harry and Ron was pretty difficult on her. Luckily, Fred and George dropped in on her once in a while to keep her company, and she kept busy starting to knit more Weasley jumpers.

They took a lot of time to make, so it quite literally took an entire year to make all eleven of them. Of course, there were only 9 members in her immediate family but she had started making ones for Harry and me too.

"William!" she exclaimed happily, stepping forward to hug and kiss her oldest son. "How are you, my boy? Are you enjoying your work?" Bill smiled, hugging his mother back before I opened the door further, inviting Molly in.

Although nervous, I was ecstatic for Bill and Molly to see each other again. "And Kate," Molly continued. There was a moment of hesitation, causing a small ache to fill my chest. But to my surprise, she smiled even wider. "How are you? I do hope the Order isn't tiring you out completely."

"If not the Order then the Death Eaters," I admitted sadly. Chuckling merrily, Molly wrapped her small arms around me as well, and I sent Bill a surprised look over her shoulder.

"Well, you've been doing great." Molly complimented. "C'mon then, let's get inside." She grabbed my hand. "I want to talk wedding details." As she dragged me away, I saw Bill laughing silently at my expression before I was sat in a seat.

"Do you want something?" I asked Molly politely, getting up. "I can make you some tea, or make you something to eat if you're feeling at all peckish."

"No, no, no!" Molly denied, pushing me back onto my seat. "I'm sure William can get something together."

Bill appeared in the living room as he rolled his eyes. "I've missed you too, mother." But he still ended up making Molly and I some tea.

"So what were you thinking about size." Molly immediately went into the wedding questions, her kind smile permanently resting on her mouth as the conversation went on. "Guest-list-wise, I mean." She elaborated after seeing my confused expression.

"Oh," I said awkwardly. "Well, obviously my adoptive family. I don't have any more family on the Fontaine side that isn't deceased." Molly gave me a look of commiseration at my words. "So the Diggorys. And of course, all of your family, along with Ron's friends." Molly beamed even further at my words. "And the members of the Order too. Except Dawlish." Molly grinned.

"I did hear that the two of you don't get along very well." She recalled.

"It's not my fault!" I defended myself. "I'm just never sure whether to laugh at him or tell him off. His comments and actions are rather ridiculous." Molly nodded her head in agreement.

We had soon been talking for about an hour, about the wedding and about Molly and Arthur's plans... I had forgotten all about my nerves and reservations. "Molly," I said as we calmed down from our laughter. "Would you like to come dress shopping with me tomorrow?" I inquired.

"Really?" she asked in surprise.

I nodded. "Of course! I planned to go with my adoptive mother tomorrow but I think it'd be nice to get a third opinion." I raised an eyebrow, awaiting her answer. "So, what do you say?"

"Of course I'll come!" Molly exclaimed, getting up to hug me. I grinned, thanking her before she stated that she was going to get home before Arthur so she could cook for him.
