Kate Fontaine

"We never go out anymore," Bill commented one evening. We were lounging on the couch in the living room of his flat, talking about wedding plans. My head was resting on his lap as he played with strands of my hair. The wedding seemed to be one of the only things we could talk about nowadays because of the current situation. Naturally, it was the only positive thing going on at the moment.

"What?" I asked with a small laugh. "Yes, we do! We go patrolling and we look for ex-Death Ea-"

"Exactly my point!" Bill insisted. I sat up and raised an eyebrow. I could see his point clearly, but I wanted to hear what he had to say. "All we do is work, and then do some more work for the Order of the Phoenix. And being an Auror, I never know if you're properly safe or not." I reached over and tucked some red hair of his behind his ear.

"Alright," I agreed, a smile gracing my lips. "Let's go out tonight. Let's go out now! What do you want to do?" I inquired, leaning closer to my fiancé.

Bill's frowned suddenly. "I don't want to go out now." He said with mild distaste. Laughter bubbled inside of me and Bill pouted adorably. "What?"

"You were just persisting that we needed to get out more and you don't want to go?" Bill nodded in confirmation, seeming pleased with how amusing I thought the situation was. "And why is that?" Bill only grinned and took my hands, helping me off the sofa.

"Because I'm never at home with you either." He retorted, a playful smirk on his lips as he twirled me around in a 360 circle. I returned the expression without any failure, smirking right back at Bill.

"That sounds rather suggestive to me." I teased, shaking my head.

"Oh Kate," Bill pretended to sigh. "You're such a terrible influence."

"Of course," I leant up to place a kiss behind his ear, something I knew he loved endlessly when I did. "My perfect Head Boy William. You're an angel aren't you?" Bill laughed in sarcastic agreement and kissed me.

"Always." He deadpanned and I grinned. An obnoxious knock on Bill's front door snapped us out of our romantic moment and Bill carelessly opened it with a flick of his wand.

"Why hello- MY EYES!" someone shrieked and Bill and I separated to see Fred and George Weasley now inside Bill's flat. "Save it for when you're married for Merlin's sake!" The twins were wearing matching dress robes in different colours and looked particularly mercurial on that day.

I sighed, knowing that the private time Bill and I wanted was going to be far more limited now. But I didn't mind too much. My almost-brother-in-laws were always fun to be around. "That's going to be quite soon, George." I reminded him, and he just grinned. Fred and George had been dropping in occasionally because they insisted they were trying to make sure we were all right. Personally, I thought it was because I often cooked for them when I had time.

"Half a year is a long time." Fred disagreed with me, his brown eyes sparkling with that boyish cheekiness as he smirked. (A/N: I cry every time) "I don't argue with your choices. It'll be hard to keep your paws off each other that long." George giggled at his twin's words, his eyes shining with amusement.

"Stop teasing, you two," Bill said in his usual older-brother-type tone, although he was still smiling. Of course, he shared the same feelings with me about the twins interrupting us. "What's happening?" he inquired, steering the conversation in another direction so Fred and George couldn't tease us further. My hero. I sarcastically thought to myself.

"We were just wondering if people from the Order were still patrolling the area," Fred admitted as he threw himself onto the sofa, George soon following. Literally throwing himself on top of Fred's body, causing him to gasp, curse, and shove George onto the ground. "Everything's been going worse than before. Luckily we're still mailing orders – mostly to Hogwarts students of course."

"Carrying on our legacy," George added on, wincing as he rubbed his shoulder, which hit the ground with a thud on the impact of Fred tossing him off his body.

"I don't know," I confessed, slightly surprised that I hadn't been told. "You'll have to talk to Mad-Eye about that." The two sighed, nodding their heads solemnly. "You didn't have to come all this way just to ask me that," I added.

"Come all this way?" Fred and George simultaneously spoke, incredulity filling the tone of their words.

"Bill lives ten minutes away from Diagon Alley, and we live in it," Fred argued. "How is that far?" I sighed, finally separating myself from Bill and already making my way to the kitchen.

"Are you two hungry? I can make you all something to eat if you'd like." I suggested. Soon, orders come rushing to me like in a pub, and Bill groaned, still following them in.

"Kate, we can have it in a tent outside the Burrow," Bill suggested, as we both got ready for work the next morning. Fred and George ended up staying the night but surprisingly got up earlier than us to go to the joke shop. Their assistant Verity couldn't do everything by herself, as she was a little shy. Well, compared to the twins at least. "That way it's an easy location to find and we can do whatever we want in the magical tent."

"That's brilliant!" I exclaimed in excitement, my eyes lighting up as I jumped onto Bill. He had laughed stumbled upon my weight, falling back onto our bed. I kissed him quickly and he rubbed circles on my hips with his thumbs. We basically did that cheesy thing from the movies where we stared adoringly at each other.

"I'm going to be stuck here all day if we don't leave," Bill commented with a small smile, brushing a lock of hair from my face behind my ear. This was something we often did to each other. "You're all the motivation I need."

"William," I began in an already teasing tone, tilting my head to the side. "Are you suggesting that we skip work and spend all day at home?" Bill made sure he looked as innocent as possible.

"What?" he shook his head, red hair flying everywhere. "Of course not! That is absolutely horrible for you to accuse me of." I raised an eyebrow, obviously not buying it.

"Are you done?" I joked, getting up and running a hand through my hair. "We need to get to the Ministry. I don't want to be like those people that are glared at, the moment they walk through the door."

"It's easy to criticise people, Kate." Bill reminded me, his compassionate and sensible side coming out as I grinned.

"Fun, too," I added on, which caused Bill burst into laughter as I pulled him up from the bed. "Apparating is going to make me fat," I stated, looking down at my stomach and jokingly poking at it.

"That is a bloody lie and you know it," Bill answered, kissing my temple lightly as he laced our fingers together. I had smiled, subconsciously leaning into the slight contact and sighing contently. I lived for moments like this between us.

"You sound like your brother," I commented after a moment, his words distinctly reminding me of the youngest Weasley brother. Bill had rolled is eyes as a response before we disapparated to the Ministry of Magic.

"Uggggh." I groaned, sitting down next to Bill in frustration. I had just gotten home from work and I was absolutely finished with working with Dawlish. He was an arse as far as I was concerned, and he could go to hell. I also wished I could hex him, but that was supposedly 'inappropriate in work conditions'. Whatever. "How about we have a pre-wedding honeymoon?" I pleaded as Bill pulled me into his lap, facing him. I knew it wouldn't be possible, but the idea seemed nice.

"That would be absolutely amazing," Bill assured me, leaning over and kissing me. I returned the kiss before leaning my forehead against his, gazing into his deep eyes. "But we have work." He added, making me groan. "And you're an important asset to the Order!" Bill exclaimed.

"As are you!" I defended him, lightly tapping his shoulder with my pointer finger, as my hand had been resting on it. "You're a fantastic wizard. And you happen to be an incredible boyfriend as well."

Bill smiled, lightly nudging my nose with his own. "My fiancé is better than yours." He stated and I laughed.

"Now that I can agree with," I confirmed with a wink, so Bill would know I was just teasing. "But if I ever need a heart transplant, I want Dawlish's," I stated.

"Dawlish?" Bill echoed, furrowing his brows together in confusion.

"Yes!" I proclaimed, smiling. "I mean; it's never been used," I muttered and Bill laughed, kissing my temple.

"If I see you smiling, it's because you're thinking of doing cheeky or naughty," Bill commented. "If you see me laughing it's because you've already done it," he added. I grinned, nodding my head in confirmation and Bill laughed again. I knew things wouldn't last like that forever.

And that scared me.
