ADAM COOPER
He poured himself yet another mug of beer and for the first time in his life, it wasn't happiness that called for the ale. He sipped his beer as his mind paced back and forth; in confusion and regret. He looked at the graffiti painted walls of the bar which seemed to amuse him, somehow.
"Adam, sitting here and acting like this won't help you solve the thousand problems that you claim you have," Victoria, his best friend, exclaimed.
"Shut up for a minute, at least. Now, will you?" Adam said, irritated.
Victoria had been his friend for as long as he could remember. It all started in first grade when her younger version had made his bullies cry for throwing his food down the dumpster. He could remember it clear as crystal. His six year old self stood in the middle of the cafeteria crying because two older boys had thrown his food away and that was when Victoria had pushed one of his bullies and grabbed his tray of food, handing it over to Adam. They had been inseparable ever since.
As much as Adam loved and admired his best friend, he couldn't help but fight with her over almost anything. He hated how she wouldn't stop nagging him for throwing a soda can in the road instead of the dumpster and all things environment related, he hated how she would always back out from plans which are fun because she thinks it's too mainstream. He couldn't stand when she would give him the good boy lessons to get him on his feet. He hated all of that but he couldn't hate her, no matter what went wrong. Whether it was some good news or some bad, heartbreaking movie that had made him feel like Jack from Titanic, she was always the first one to find out. The same had always worked for her; be it a new environment program that she had taken part in or some guy she found nerdy and cute, it was Adam who would know."Do you even realise what kind of problems people all around the world are facing right now? And you call this tiny problem of yours big. Do you know what is going on in -"
"Yes, I get it. Stop now. Let's just go, please," Adam replied, cutting her short.
"Let's go. I don't have a problem with that. But I do have a problem with you calling your problem big. Like, why did you even date the younger sister if you knew you liked the elder one? Why would you make your ex's sister your rebound? That's one dumb thing to do, Adam and -"
"I've payed for my drink and your mojito. Let's go," Adam impatiently said, walking out almost instantly.
"I wish you would've payed heed to what I said, instead," Victoria whispered to herself.
"What you're saying doesn't help," he replied as he walked ahead of her, not even holding the door open for her.
"Such manners," she whispered, yet again.A/N: So hey! It's been long since I last updated. I sincerely apologise for that, I had my exams and all kind of things which prevented me from putting my thinking cap on and writing ! This chapter is pretty small, I know. But I'll post a longer one next time.
