Chapter eight ~ Reset ~
Ty's POV
Jay stopped in front of my house to drop me off from our relaxing day. I had missed the last half of my day at school and I'm pretty sure my mom got a notification about it. He turned to me and smiled once I unbuckled.
"Thanks for coming with me today." He said with a cute face.
"No problem." I got out and leaned inside the window after closing the door and tossing my bag over my shoulder.
"Hey, I forgot to ask earlier but um...my friend Jace is having a party this Friday and I was wondering if you wanted to come with me?"
Did the ending of that question sound perverted? I hope not...
He nodded and turned the song that played to something else. I wasn't really listening closely to know what though.
"I'd love to. Does that mean I'm gonna have to wait two days till I see you again?" A small pout formed on his lips.
"I can see you at Lazy Daisy after school tomorrow." Then I held up my phone. "Or you can hit me up anytime you wanna." Damn...that sounded wrong too. I mentally slapped myself.
I heard him chuckled and I blushed a little.
"Will do. See you later then."
I nodded to him and watched him get out a cigarette and light it before he smiled at me and drove away.
I sighed and stood on the side walk, turning to take in the view of my house. Looked so nice on the outside but a monster was staying inside. Going up the steps slowly, they creaked slightly under the weight. The door was unlocked which either meant my mom was home from work or Bill was here alone. I hesitated then went inside and heard clanking.
"Mom?"
The clanking stopped and she popped her head through the doorway of the kitchen.
"Hey, pumpkin. Did you stop somewhere after school?"
Good, she must've not gotten a notification. I nodded and went into the house fully after taking off my shoes and tossing my coat on the rack. I spotted Bill on the couch like usual and received a glare from him.
"Tsk-" I heard him from the walkway.
I ignored it and went to see what my mom was doing. On the stove were pans and pots filled with pasta, sauce, and meatballs.
"Spaghetti?" I asked with a smile on my face. I took in the aroma, sniffing the air while behind her shoulders.
She laughed. "Yep. Do you have any objections, Mr. I'll-Eat-Anything?"
"Nope Ms. Mama-Cook."
I said in response and went to leave kitchen only to stop with Bill blocking the doorway. I just stared, waiting for him to move out of the way. He snickered and jerked towards me. I flinched back and he laughed quietly.
"Fag."
Then he shoved past me to my mom, placing his hands on her hips, talking into her ear.
I huffed. It disgusted me to even have him close to my mother. I didn't like him in my house. My fear of him was obvious though. I felt helpless that I was such a coward to face him.
I skipped up the steps to my room. My bag thumped against the wall when I tossed it into a corner. I heard clawing at my door and opened it. Timber came waddling in, his tiny body moving from his tail wagging. Pawing at my leg to get attention, I picked him up and placed him beside me on my bed. He jogged around a little, jumping on me before curling up on my pillow. I couldn't help but smile at the little guy. Adorable.
