He couldn't see, it was great. He succeeded in making them mad enough to attack him this badly. Sure he was getting the stuffing knocked out of him but it was hilarious to anger such assholes. His laughter probably encouraged the beating though.
Cyrus rolled away coughing in his laughter, the blood on his lips blew onto the dirt and Cyrus looked to the left where Sam had his own problems.
They both thought it was amusing in different ways.
Pissing off five high school dropouts that just went to the gym from what the rumors said. There were a lot of rumors in high school, and of course Cyrus and Sam being recent graduates, they heard a lot of it from friends. These guys just lived off their parents and stole money from kids.
The scheme they had at the moment was to guard a little park by the woods and charge kids money. It was only a couple of dollars but their leader, a guy Sam decided was named Marcus, was a real piece of work.
Cyrus and Sam coincidentally didn't like him and snuck by them into the park just to annoy them. Which resulted in them getting caught shortly afterwards and Cyrus spitting in Marcus's face at the thought of giving this douche anything.
Now they were in the middle of a kick fest, bleeding out with Cyrus laughing to his hearts content and Sam defiantly yelling taunts and insults when the two felt a heavy pressure in their chests and passed out, although the kicking continued.
At least it continued until it didn't, but the onslaught didn't cease because the highschool dropouts grew tired or developed a sense of mercy. No they just stopped moving, as did the leaves on the trees and the animals of the forest, and the gentle breeze.
And the park erupted in a bright white light... And the events that would forever change the world began.
