Chris grabbed the bottle by the base and yanked it from my mouth before shoving me against the bar. I felt some of the wine dribble down my chin and I watched Chris's gaze flicker to the liquid clinging to my lips.
"You really have an issue with listening, don't you?" He growled, holding my jaw firmly in his large hand.
"I don't know about you, but I think it's kind of endearing." Danielle remarks as she takes the ornate bottle from his grasp to drink again. When she finished she questioned, "So are we going out or are we going to sit here and continue to pretend we're in a soap opera?"
Chris suddenly released me muttering, "I don't want anything to do with this right now."
Just like that Chris was storming out of the building and even though I had been rushing after him, I found that he had somehow disappeared.
"Oh he'll be fine." Danielle reassures me. "It's just been a long time since Chris was involved with someone."
"But we're not..."
She cut me off saying, "Look, Chris likes you. The last girl he was into, let's just say it didn't end so well."
My eyes widened and cheeks reddened at that, "Really?"
She nodded and decided to speak about the latter, "It was about two years ago, she dumped him because of him being so focused on his band. I guess some people don't know how to share."
"Clearly."
"Alright, well let's hit the road." She states and hand the drink back to me before calling into the back, "Ladies, get out here please."
The rest of the girls stepped into the room and Dawn was the first to notice what I had in my hands. The other's quickly caught on as well as I took another drink from feeling self-conscious and I felt the warmth radiate through my veins from the wine.
"Is she with us now?" Peyton asked Danielle, who grinned while nodding.
They all let out cheers at that and basically piled on me to hug me. "You're one of us now!"
Mackenzie grabbed my hand and pulled me outside to the back of the bar. I was surprised to see that there were several other motorcycles parked there in the twilight.
"You all have bikes too?" I asked.
Peyton climbed on the one closest to her, "Yeah, we acquired them recently."
That caused the other girls to chuckle as they got on their own bikes.
"So Chris told me that you like to race. So what do you say Ashlyn, want to race?" Danielle asks as she reeves her bike's engine.
I grinned as I saw that someone had brought my bike back here as well. "Let's do it."
She laughed, "Just try to keep up."
I smirked at that and asked, "Where are we finishing this at?"
"The rail road tracks, they're just a mile up the road."
And just like that we were off, bike's roaring through the night. The road began to take tight turns that I had to lean into so far that it made me feel like I would scrap the asphalt any second. Danielle and I were neck and neck and I was still gaining speed. A thick fog had rolled in over the area, but I just kept going, kept pushing to win.
"Come on Ashlyn! Show me what you can do!" Danielle shouted from somewhere behind me.
Thankfully I saw what I was heading for, a cliff. I was going so fast that I had to harshly turn the handles of my bike to stop, ripping up grass and dirt before I smacked into the ground. The air was smashed out of my lungs as I rolled towards the edge, but I urgently reached out to halt myself. I desperately gasped as I saw the sheer drop beside me and in the dense fog I lifted my eyes to make out a rail road bridge just in the distance.
