Susannah GonzalesShe looked in the mirror, dissatisfied with the girl standing in front of her. Her ratty brown hair was down and under a beanie. Her dull green eyes stared back at her, scrutinizing her body under their sharp gaze. She sighed angrily, put her phone in her pocket, and was out the door; racing away on her skateboard.

She arrived at school with ten minutes to spare before she could head inside. She scanned the bodies around her, looking for no one in particular, but her eyes caught a sight she didn't want to see. The love of her life with his new fling pushing him against the wall of the school. Her eyes teared up, but she couldn't look away. The blonde bimbo, feeling Susannah's gaze, flicked her off before smirking against his lips.
She quickly shot her eyes away. She had no right to be upset when he didn't even know she existed. The pang in her chest was throbbing as she brought her eyes back to the couple. He had swapped places with the blonde and was now feeling her up without their lips ever breaking contact. Again, her gaze was felt as icy blue eyes made contact with hers, before they quickly went back to his victim.
The bell rang and she entered the school, not looking back once.

She went to the C hallway that remained unoccupied as it was the oldest part of the school, and the whole hall was practically in shambles. She slid down the wall to a sitting position while she pulled a pack of cigarettes out of her bag, lit one, put it to her lips, and breathed in. She relished the smoke filling her lungs for a few seconds before slowly breathing it out through her nose.
She cursed quietly as she heard footsteps thumping down the hall towards her. She had the cigarette under her shoe in the blink of an eye, ready to stomp it out, when a voice stopped her.
"Was that your last one?"
She looked up and was met with icy blue eyes. Her breath caught in her throat as she was held under his questioning eyes. She slowly opened her bag and held the pack out to him. He retrieved one stick and handed the pack back to her as he slid down the wall next to her. He pulled out his own lighter and lit the cigarette.
"Did you have your own cigarettes, as well, and just wanted to talk to me?"
"Left them at home," He replied nonchalantly.
"You left your cigarettes at home but not your lighter?" She asked, laughter evident in her voice.
"Listen, I came here to take the edge off, not for conversation. So can you screw off and go back to what you were doing before I got here?"
She was hurt by his tone of voice but complied and rested her head against the wall. She finished off her cigarette and stood up. She began slowly walking away, hoping he would stop her and apologize for his harsh tone. She didn't hear him getting up. She didn't hear the rustling of his stuff as he bent down to pick it up and chase after her. She didn't hear the infamous "Hey, wait up!"She didn't hear anything and as she rounded the corner and looked back, she realized why.
He was sat there, finishing off the cigarette, completely oblivious to the sound of her shattering heart.
