Never coming back

A father in Utah
A mother at home
A daughter in her crib
A son all alone.

The son was a fighter
Stronger than you'd ever known
He fought for the country
He planned to come home
His body never lighter
When he told
His parents he were to propose

One week was left till wedding bells chimed
He never made it
It was his time

A knock on the door
No one thought
The mother opened the door
And was in shock

She called the father
Tears in his eyes
Looking at a letter
He had mailed in the past
Saying see you soon
Mom and dad
I love you

The man on his door step
Dressed in all black
Told them the son
Was never to come back

The young daughter
Only three at the time
Peeked around the corner
And wondered
Where her brother was at
