Dear Rotagirl98,

I know this is late, and I’m sorry. I really thought I was going to be able to get something done, but I had a mind blank. I hope you had a great Christmas, and will enjoy the rest of 2014! Here’s the poems they're not perfect, but you enjoy them!

1.

Her name was called out of a crowd of 27

Slowly, she rose from her desk

Her tattered blue jeans dragging on the ground

As she stood in front of the chalkboard

People stared into the windows of her soul

Sighing, the teacher told her to start

Her palms were sweaty, and her knees were shaking

She tried to speak, but no sound came out

Kids started to snicker, and whisper

But still, she stood silent

The clock ticked in the corner

Her time was running out, and she knew it

Fight or flight? Which instinct would win this time?

Her mind say to flight, because that’s what she’d always done

But her heart said to stay, and overcome her fear

Clearing her throat, she tried to speak again

This time it was different, she squeaked out the first line

And as she continued, her voice grew louder and stronger

By now she was finished, and feeling accomplished

For the first time she had overcome her fears

The tables had turned, and she had come out on top

She hoped people would see her differently

Not as the quiet girl in the back of the room

But to be known as the girl who overcame her fears

2.

The wind roared around

Snowflakes of all sizes flew

People stayed indoors

3.

Sleds, and shovels out

Everywhere snowballs flew

Christmas time is here
