"Who are you?" I demand, panicked by the mystic woman that sits in front of me, "how do you know my name?"
A small smile of satisfaction plays on her lips, "Patience Luna, time will tell."
I ignore her remark, "Why did you do this to me?"
"It took you three injections to get you to stay still and quite a while to figure out that no one can escape this place without my help."
"I wanted to escape because I was kidnapped by you and your body guard friends." I hiss.
She sighs, "It's so nice to finally see you, Luna."
To finally see me? How does she know me? I can feel the butterflies in my stomach double over in disgust. "Who are you?"
She emerges from her armchair, taking long but elegant strides towards me. She's so close I can hear her raspy breaths, "how's your dad?"
"I wouldn't know," I reply, trying to make my voice sound as confident as possible when really, my heart is in my throat, "why do you care anyways?"
"Do you know the history behind the making of the Selene and the Helios Luna?" She inquires. Gee, she really doesn't like to answer my questions does she?
I roll my eyes nonchalantly, "No.
I don't.""Well, you see, at the very creation of New Earth, thousands of years ago, the survivors of Ancient Earth decided that not everyone could be as privileged and wealthy as the other. So, they created two classes ; the Selene for the less privileged and the Helios for the more. The names derive from Ancient Greek, Selene meaning the moon, bringing darkness to the light and Helios, the sun, bringing light to darkness."
The door opens and a woman wearing a filthy kitchen apron comes in with a gleaming tray of tea. The woman takes it, acknowledges the maid and makes an offering towards me. I shake my head.
She takes a sip of tea and continues, "You know Luna, there was a time - believe it or not when the Selenes and Helios used to live together in harmony. In fact, the Helios used to give a lot of their money to the Selenes to show gratitude for their work. But, that time has long passed and eventually, the Helios got too into their heads and started treating the Selenes as an inferior race who should do nothing but work for them."
I try to imagine a time where all of us, no matter what class, were united, where we lived together in - ouch! A sharp pain jabs my right shoulder, one of the guards has put a syringe in my arm.
As soon as he takes it out, my hand instantly goes towards the wound, "What the hell was that for?"
The woman in front of me smiles madly, as if she's seen gold for the first time. She reaches behind the table, how she still manages to make that look elegant I don't know. She pulls out a small, compact silver object, the sides adorned with tiny colourful jewels. A mirror? Why did she bring out a mirror?
She strides towards me and reaches towards the mirror in front of me. I can feel the cold metal touch my palms as she gently places it in my hand, "Look at your Moon Mark Luna."
I obey and look at my right hand.
My Selene Moon Mark isn't there. The Mark I've had my entire life is no longer here, with me. Where is it? What am I? Who am I? My heart beats fast. Faster than the beat of hummingbirds wings. I might throw up.
"What the hell have you done?" I'm disgusted, confused, angry - betrayed. I sprint toward the metal door, bolted shut. I start banging on it until my palms hurt, tears streaming down my face, "Get me out of here!"
