"Firs' years follow me!"
We walked along as a massive man yell for us to join him as we went to the boats. Harry talked to him as if he knew him personally. He walked back over. "Harry, who is that?" I asked as I pointed to the man-giant. "Oh, that's Hagrid. The games keeper of the school." He said.
We loaded into the boats. The boat was Ron, Harry, Hermione and myself. I was in awe of everything around me. I leaned to far and almost fell out. But Ron caught me. Again. "You've got to quit doing that." He said. I was lucky because my face was a scarlet color.
We got off the boats and walked up to the castle. Luckily, I didn't fall. We walked up to the door as I saw her.
A thin lady with horned rimmed glasses wearing a emerald cloak. "Good evening. My name is Professor McGonagall and welcome to Hogwarts. As you know, there are four houses. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. You will be sorted into the houses so wait here a moment and I will be right back.
"So it's true." Said a boy in the back. He stepped forward. His hair was a platinum blonde and was gelled heavily. He walk toward Harry. "Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts." He said. "My names Malfoy, Draco Malfoy." Ron snickered. " You think it's funny do you? Well let me guess, red hair, tattered wand, hand-me-down robes, you must be a Weasley." Malfoy said triumphantly. Ron looked down ashamed. "Well, Potter, we mustn't hangout with the wrong sort of people." He looked at Ron and I. He held his hand for Harry. "I can decide that for myself thanks."
Before Malfoy could say anything, McGonagall walked back over to the group and took us in to the Great Hall for sorting.
She opened the doors and I looked around in awe of what I was seeing. There were candles above me and there were four tables, one for each house. Hermione told me about the history and the charm of the candles. I listened to her but I saw Ron looking at me as I made eye contact with him. He blushed and looked away.
In front of us was a stool with a tattered old hat sat upon it. I wondered what it was for. "How you will be sorted is when I call your name, you will come sit on the stool and I will place the hat on your head. Any questions?" She said. No one said anything. "Let the sorting being."
Lots of people went and go. We were sorted into the houses. It was Malfoy's turn and even before the hat touched his head, the hat yelled "SLYTHERIN!" Hermione was sorted into Gryffindor and so was Ron. Apparently, the Weasley family is know to be in Gryffindor.
"Black, Emmaline" Finally, my name was called, I was nervous as hell and didn't know where I was to go. I walked up and sat on the stool. She placed the hat upon my head. "Ah, very many thoughts like you father, wanting to be with the people he met along your journey. Very intelligent girl like your mother, mischievous like your father, but have the beauty of another. I know where to put you....... GRYFFINDOR!" The hat yelled. Relief washed over me as I ran toward my friends. I plopped next to Hermione who was sitting across from Harry.
"Thank merlin." I said, the Sorting was over and the feast began. Plates piled high of some of the best looking food.
After we were all stuffed, we were directed to the common room. The colors were dark and warm. It truly was fantastic. I said good night to the boys and Hermione and I walked up the stairs.
I flopped on my and curled into a ball. I pulled my wand out and my charms. I practiced some spells that seemed farely easy. Hermione had looked over to see what I was doing and came and sat down next to me. She told what I could do to improve and it actually worked. "You're brilliant you know." I said. She blushed. "Thank you." She said.
Nip came through the window to say hello. She flew over to me and sat by my head. "Well hello to you too." I drifted off to sleep with my owl on my head.
