Alex got out of the hospital the next day. 6 days later she, her mom, and her sister were getting ready for Christmas. They were wrapping presents and preparing for the havoc of Christmas day. Lily and Alex were making cookies for Santa.

“Mmm they smell good, unfortunately they’re for Santa,” Lily sniffed.

“You can have one,” Alex said signaling that she could have one.

Lily grabbed one cookie and a napkin and ran to her room.

“Clean the crumbs when you’re done,” Alex said putting the cookies in a plastic bag.

“Lily it’s almost 9 O’clock you’re gonna go to bed in a few minutes,” mom said placing a present under the tree.  Alex put milk and cookies on the fold up table she had.

“Mom?”

“Yeah?”

“I love you.  And if anything bad happens to me I’ll still love you and Lily.”

“I know, sweetheart.”

“And if I die, I’ll be watching over you just like dad is.”

“Aw honey.  I love you too,” she said hugging her.

“Well I’m gonna go to sleep.”

“Ok.” Alex went to her room and looked back on her mom and Lily having fun.  She smiled faintly and went to bed.  There she stayed looking at the pale ceiling, tossing and turning of what might come next.  She shook her head.  “Tomorrow’s a new day.  You’ll survive; she blissfully sighed and closed eyes.
