Three days after the pirate attack, the Herons were finally able to stop and resupply what they'd lost during the frantic battle. Most of their fresh water barrels were knocked in to the water by clumsy pirates, and so the crew had been saving all the water they could until now.
It had been Jesper who'd spotted the small cove.
After hugging the cliff for so many days, Jesper had spied a small inlet upon rounding a jagged cliff corner. The inlet opened on to a small sandy beach which let to thick green forest. The forest went for as far as the eye could see, sloping upwards on the mountainside. And yet it was perfect, for a forest that green surely had to house fresh water!
And so the Herons ran their ship on to the sandy expanse of the shore.
" Okay, Ingvar, Alexandria, stay here and watch the boat. They rest of you, grab a water cask and follow me, we are going to top up our supplies. Expect us back by noon," Hal ordered, directing people to their positions.
Ingvar nodded dutifully while Alex blushed ever so slightly and nodded as well." So Alex, thank you for saving my life during the pirate attack. Without my spectacles I didn't even see the strike coming," Ingvar murmured quietly when they were alone.
Alex smiled at him gently and put a hand on his muscles arm.
"I'd do it again in a heartbeat," she promised.
"I just feel so useless without them!" Ingvar growled in frustration.
"I felt the same about my memories, absolutely useless! But they're coming back now and things are looking up because of the hope they provide me. You just need to find your hope! Things will look up," Assured Alex gently.
Ingvar turned to look her in the eyes, since he was so close he didn't need his spectacles and could see her easily, he saw the way she smiled up at him gently since in his height he towered over her.
"I think I've already found my hope," Ingvar murmured, gazing in to her eyes.
"And what would that be?" Alex asked curiously.
"You," Ingvar murmured, his smile gentle like hers.It was with an aching head and a small groan that Hal awoke.
Cracking open his eyes he stared up at the blurry face appearing above him.
"Hal!" The voice growled quietly.
Hal blinked and the face swam in to focus, it was Thorn.
"What happened?" Hal slurred groggily.
"Don't you remember? We were attacked without warning, we've been captured," Thorn growled mutinously.
