They sailed for two more days before Alexandria woke up. Everyone was asleep and she had woken up as the ship rocked don the small waves. No one was at the tiller since the sea anchor was down. Everyone was exhausted and in the early hours of the morning, Alexandria sat up. She saw them asleep, still not sure who they were or where she was and crept to the pent of the ship. She crouched on the mast figurehead of the Heron, sitting with her legs dangling over the side. She was humming a tune that she didn't know how she knew but knew it anyway. Who was she? She knew her name, but she she didn't know if she had family, or friends, or a home. Wait..........a home, something sparked in her mind. Something that made her shiver with fear when thinking of home. She vaguely remembered someone talking to her about a place called Austrel and then preceding to take a sword out to kill her! She shuddered, maybe she was a criminal? Or was she a pirate? WHO WAS SHE?
She sang the song she remembered, hoping there'd be a clue to her past.
" I've sailed a thousand seas, on my ship all jolly and fair. I've been to a thousand places and yet there's more sea journeys 'to spare. My crew and I have had adventures on the sea that we call home, for this sea so bright and blue is the place where I belong, " Alexandria sang softly, the notes coming to her and sounding sweet and beautiful.
" That's a lovely song," A deep male voice stated.
Alexandria jumped in surprise and toppled off her precarious perch. A strong arm grabbed hers as she started falling towards the sea. Someone pulled her back up on deck and she stood there shaking like a leaf, fearfully staring at the huge man in front of her.
" Sorry, I shouldn't have been up there. Thanks for saving me," Alexandria whispered fearfully.
She stood there, staring up at him, not knowing who he was but knowing he wasn't evil. He didn't seem evil to her. She hoped he wouldn't be angry at her.
" Nonsense! Don't apologise, it was my fault that I frightened you," The man said, blushing slightly.
" I, I don't really know who you are, or who I am, but ummmmmmm, what's your name?" Alexandria asked awkwardly.
" I'm Ingvar," The man introduced.
" Well, Ingvar, if I remember correctly I told you my name before I blacked out," Alexandria mumbled shyly.
" Yes, Alexandria, you told us your name. I don't think anyone would ever forget a name so beautiful as yours. Is it foreign?" Ingvar asked boldly yet sweetly.
" I don't really know what foreign is........but I recall a place called Austrel," Alexandria mumbled with a fierce blush in her face form his kind words.
" You don't seem to remember a lot, do you? What happened to you?" Ingvar asked in concern, stepping closer to her.
" I don't really know what happened to me, except I know my name and where I came from....and I get the feeling I don't want to be going back there. So............that's all I really remember but since my head hurts something awful I'm sure I'm not usually this forgetful," Alexandria explained, racking her brain for anything she could really remember but it all seemed a blur to her.
" I'm sure it will all come back to you in time, but until then.........let me personally welcome you to our ship, the Heron," Ingvar said in assurance, sweeping his long arms to indicate the stunning ship.
