The class gathered around the arena. It was examination day, and people were paired against their equal match. Tessa had gone into the room prepared to take anyone down who stood in her way. These matches were the most anticipated events of the year, as you were allowed to use your powers against your opponent. No one ever died because they had healers on hand.
Dylan stood ready. Everyone was dressed in black high-quality spandex, marked with a red or blue belt. He already knew who he was going to fight, and he couldn't wait. He admired her from across the room and cracked his knuckles. They were to be the last to fight. The show-stopping finale. And everyone in the room was anticipating it.
Darkness spread over the room, and the center of the room was lit. The glass walls lifted up and two names were called out. A Villain and A Hero. They walked into the center of the room, and the glass descended. Trapping themselves away from everyone else to prevent unnecessary harm. The first villain was destroyed by the hero. The hero could teleport, making it impossible for the villain who's power was incredible accuracy. It's useless when you don't know where your opponent is. The hero's cheered as the winner exited the dome. Everyone stood off of the benches and clapped. This continued for two hours, before it came to the last two contestants.
Tessa and Dylan.
The room was silent as they entered the glass. Dylan looked into Tessa's eyes. He saw the humanity leave her beautiful eyes, even though she was not dead. She was determined- and so is he. Dylan was going to make use of the soundproof container they were trapped in.
"Hey, beautiful." Dylan winked, snapping his fingers creating a glowing orb that hung above his head. "Long time no see. It's such a pity you live so far away..."
"I swear to god. You're going to make my job so much easier by getting me angry." Tessa hissed, flames flickering in her eyes.
"Woah. You're so hot. Literally and figuratively."
Tessa waved the flames that danced along her fingertips in front of her face. Oh how easily she knew she could win, but she was eager to play the game. Dylans heartbeat was twice as fast. He wasn't nervous about losing. He knew he could win. It was the way she was looking at him. And the way he looked at her even made the dead butterflies in Tessa's stomach do a somersault. She hated it. Tessa froze, looking at the flames in her hand. They were a different colour. They were blue and hotter than usual. She grinned, knowing her fight was going to be easier. Tessa threw a fireball at Dylan, who narrowly dodged it. He flashed a blinding white light in her face, and threw a knife into her chest. She looked at it, and then the audiences faces flash with shock. Maintaining eye contact, she pulled it from her chest, and took a step towards Dylan. She twirled it in her hand, and he admired the wound he had made in her chest heal with ease. He hadn't realised how quickly she really healed. She dropped the knife and kicked it behind her.
"Is that all you've got?" She teased, knowing he hadn't much power. He wasn't trained well enough to be able to access his full light manipulation abilities.
"You're insane."
"I know. It's great."
"It's a massive turn on." Dylan took a step towards her. He saw the beauty in her darkness, and she saw darkness in his beauty. She thought he was attractive, but there was something about him that was mysterious and buried. Her mind ran a marathon before she was interrupted.
"Did it hurt?" Dylan whispered, taking one more step towards her. Inches away.
Tessa rolled her eyes, knowing it was a pickup line he was going to throw at her. He was full of pathetic pickuplines that most people somehow found attractive.
"Let me guess. When I fell from heaven?"
A grin was plastered all across Dylans face as he took a step closer, only centimeters away from her face. He leaned in towards her ear, and took a deep breath.
"Did it hurt when you fell for me?"
All of a sudden the lights all turned off, and the only thing burning in the room was the fire between Dylan and Tessa as their lips joined together.
