The First Day

The ringing of the alarm woke me up with a start.

'I hate this day already' I thought to myself as I turned the alarm off and dragged myself out of bed.

I went to my drawer and dug out my binder and slipped it on. I had a friend buy it for me this past week, but my mom doesn't know.

She doesn't approve, but I don't care.

I got dressed and fixed my  hair, which was freshly cut on the sides with some longer hair on the top. The 'Ruby Rose' is what the barber called it. I think she knew what was going on, unlike my family.

I appreciated that.

I appreciated that she didn't look at me like I was a freak.

Like the rest of society does.

Several hours later, I was outside the place I was dreading to be this year. I took a year off and did online-schooling, knowing that it'd give people time to forget about me.

It wasn't like anyone talked to me before anyways. Not after the incident.

I walked through the large double doors, pushing through the crowd to get to my locker. I put my things inside of it then headed to my first class, like I used to do.

People didn't bother me considering I sat in the back for the first 3 class periods. That made me feel relieved.

Maybe this year will turn out better than I thought it would after all.
