"Is it possible for home to be a person and not a place?"

   -Stephanie Perkins

I've finally finished unpacking. It didn't really take long considering I didn't have much. Everything just happened so fast, I haven't had time to digest what's been going on. My father has a fiancé? It's good to know that while my moms been drinking herself to death he had time to find a bimbo to marry. I still don't understand how he got the money to afford such a big house. On the ride here Hunter told be he was in business, but if he was so well off why didn't he ever help us out? Was he too busy showering his new fiancé with gifts? Some father he is.

I looked over at the time and notices it was 5:00, I had half an hour to get ready for dinner. I walked into the bathroom, I still couldn't get over how gorgeous it was. I looked at myself in the mirror and let out a breath. I didn't belong here, just like I didn't belong back home in Watts. where do I belong.

I lift up my arm and reach my nose around to my armpit. I was debating whether or not I should have a shower and the sniff test proved that having a shower would be in everyone's best interest. I guess 3 days on the road will do that to ya. I peeled  off my worn out white tank top that had greyed over  the years and I stepped out of my tight jeans. it was hotter than hell here in North Carolina and at this moment I was so grateful for the constant hum of the air conditioning.

I walked over to the shower opened up the glass door and looked at the tap. I had no clue how to turn this thing on, there were buttons and switched. I decided to turn a big silver faucet. I put my hand on the faucet, closed one eye and hoped for the best as I turned the tap. Water started drizzling out of the main shower head. I took that as a good sign and I turned the tap a bit more to the right for more water pressure. water started shooting out of the shower head and I grinned with happiness knowing this will be the best shower I've ever had in my life. I put my hand under the stream of water and when the temperature felt just right I stepped in closing the clear glass door behind me.

The black tile walls of the shower had a certain form of elegance that made me feel like a million bucks. This is certainly something I'm not used to. I grabbed some of the shampoo that was sitting on one of the shelves in the shower and squirted It into my hands. the sweet aroma filled the shower and the steam carried it around my body. I started massaging the shampoo into my hair closing my eyes to rinse it out. I took the matching conditioner that was place beside it and did the same. I ran my fingers through my sopping wet hair once the conditioner was rinsed out. My hair felt amazing, I've never used any type of conditioner before, it wasn't a necessity and we didn't have a lot of money to waste. After I washed my body and shaved my legs I turned off the shower. I rung out my head full of long blonde hair that had now turned into a light brown in its damp state. I stepped out of the shower and rapped my body in a fluffy white towel that was hanging on a hook beside the shower.

I padded my damp feet over to the mirror across the bathroom. I took my hand and whiped away the fog that had formed on the mirror. I saw my dark blue eyes staring back at me framed by my long dark lashes. I blinked a few times still trying to realize that this wasn't a dream anymore, it was my new life. My ivory skin reflected In the mirror, me cheek's, a tad reddened from the warm water that was engulfing me a few moments ago.

I snapped out of my thoughts and tightened the towel that I had tied around my petit body like a dress. I opened the bathroom door and was met with a cold wave of air I wasn't expecting from the air conditioning I was praising about 20 minutes ago. The sudden change of temperature made the light hairs on my arms stand up. I walked across the little hallway and entered the closet. Like my dad said there was an outfit waiting for me. I replaced the white towel I was wearing with the black dress Brittany had picked out for me. it was beautiful, with the end floating just above my knee. It cinched at my waste and accented my small frame. I looked beside where the dress had been laying and notices a pair of black heels. Are you kidding me? Do you think I wear heels? I put them on and grew a good 3 inches. A 5'4 girl isn't used to seeing the world from this view. I took a step stumbling and regaining my balance on a sofa that was sitting against the wall in the massive closet. I decided it was probably a good idea to walk around in these and practice for a while before I went downstairs and embarrassed myself. Once I felt like I finally got a good grip on these heels I went back the full length mirror that was hanging on one of the walls. I gave myself a wink and went back to the bathroom to do something with my hair and makeup.
