Better Tomorrow

The sun woke up with me, greeting me to a new day. A new start.
I've always wanted a better tomorrow. I wonder if that day is today.

Getting up, I look out my window.
If I think about it, I can reach just past the horizon to feel the sun on my fingertips.
Just one day. One more day.

Sometimes if I think about it, I can see past the troubles and worries of the world and brighten them up with my smile.
If only.

I'm wide awake and everything around me is growing, changing. The flowers greeting me with their beautiful scent.
Opening up, and showing the world who they really are.
I'm here. They say, I matter too!

The trees create a wondrous song telling their story.
WHOOSH! They sing.
Right there, right that second is when I decide that one more day is too many.
Today. I need to do this today.

So, I do.
I sprint past everything I've ever known and everyone I've ever loved in hope for a better tomorrow.
I don't know how far I've run or for how long, but all I can see is tomorrow.

It's on the tip of my fingers and if I can keep it from falling, I may have a chance.
The warm grass tickling my toes, the cool wind knotting my hair, but I'm still running.

Straight for a better tomorrow.
