"Open it. Open it for me, if I failed I want you to break it to me in some way so that I don't cry." I said to Ryan as I have him my midterm report card. I grabbed Franny and held her close to me.
"Fine." He said grudgingly. "How are we going to celebrate when you've done fine?" He asked.
"We need to get the grades before we can celebrate anything." I said grumpily. "Open it already!"
"Okay, okay." He said opening the letter slowly. He let the envelope fall to the ground, he opened the paper slowly. "You have a GPA of 3.97"
"What? You're kidding aren't you? What do you mean? Do i really have an almost perfect GPA?" I asked walking over to him.
"No I'm not kidding, get over here. I'm so proud of you." He says pulling me in and giving me a kiss. "I love you, I knew you'd do fine on you exams! I told you!"
"I can't believe it! I passed! I passed my exam Ryan! I did it! I'm not gonna fail at school?" I jumped around excitedly giving Ryan quick kisses. "I need to call my dad, this is so amazing! I'm so excited! Grab my laptop we'll skype him." Ryan put my report card down and went to grab my laptop. I sat down and tried to realize that I didn't fail my exams.
"Got it." he said sitting down next to me, I opened it and put it on the coffee table in front of us.
"Answer your skype dad." I mumbled as my laptop continued to ring.
"Hey sweetie!" he said with his cheerful smile.
"Hi dad! Guess what!" I said happily leaning against Ryan.
"What? And hello Ryan."
"Hello Sir." Ryan said quietly picking up Franny.
"I have a GPA of 3.97! I didn't fail my tests! I passed everything, I'm not gonna flunk out of school and be homeless and lonely with no friends or education!" I yelled hugging Ryan's arm.
"3.97? Really?" He asked with a big smile on his face.
"Yes! Ryan read it, it's true! I passed everything with flying colors! I can't believe it! When you come down we've got to celebrate!" I said giggling and hugging Ryan's arm even harder.
"I'm so proud of you Frea. I can't wait to see you on Christmas, we can celebrate and I can meet and make bounderies clear to your new boyfriend." he said glaring at Ryan.
"Dad!" I groaned.
"You're my youngest, you're my little girl. I don't want you dating just anyone because I know what guys are like. I don't want a guy to treat you like any other girl because you're not any other girl. You're my little girl that I love so much, and I will make sure a guy treats you like he should. So don't 'dad' me. Because I don't care if you're 17 or 37, you're always going to be guarded by me." he said sternly.
"He's a good guy. So don't worry about it, I love him." I said giving Ryan a kiss on the cheek. Ryan blushes and turns away from the camera, not matter how many times I kiss him in front of my dad he's always uncomfortable.
"I'm sure he is, but I'll see if I approve of him. He has to meet the high standers I have for all my girls boyfriends. Your mother would say the same thing."
"Yeah yeah, you come in next week though right?"
"That was my understanding yes."
"You're going to be staying at my house right?" I asked trying to think of where everyone was going to be.
"That was also my understanding. I was going to be in your bedroom, you'd be with Ryan at his apartment and your sisters would be here with me in yours. That was what I thought you said." my dad said obviously trying to remember the craziness of Christmas.
"Alright I just wanted the cheek. We have a ton of people coming out and I want to make sure everyone knows where they're going to be before they get here. I don't want to have a major meltdown on Christmas because someone doesn't have anywhere to sleep. I want everything to go over perfectly, I want you to meet and love Ryan, and for both of our families to get along. Promise you'll try to get along with everyone Dad." I said dreaming about what it would be like if everything went wrong. I tried to shake it out of my head, but knew there were so many things that could go wrong with Christmas.
"I promise, you clearly love that boy. So I need to be able to accept him on some level or another, and you seem to be liking his family too. So I'll be a good dad and support you." he says sighing. "I've got to go, I'll see you in a couple days. I love you Freya." he says before blowing me a kiss.
"Bye sir." Ryan says timidly sliding closer to me.
"Goodbye Ryan." my dad says without emotion.
"Bye dad, I love you." I wave goodbye and hang up the skype call. "That went really well!" I say leaning into Ryan.
"Yeah." He mumbles.
"You've got to stop being terrified of my dad you know. He's always been like this, he'll love you Ry. Even if he doesn't, I do and that will count as something. He just wants us to be happy, and when he sees how happy you make me, he'll love you." I say kissing his cheek.
"I really hope so." Ryan says pulling me down to lay on top of me. "I love you." he says before kissing my head and nuzzling into my neck.
"I love you too." I respond easily.
"We're going to nap here aren't we?" he asks pushing up so he's hovering over me.
"I was planning on it yes." I say giggling.
"Alright, goodnight Freya Quinn."
"Goodnight Ryan Patrick." I say enjoying his warm embrace.
