"Please?" Hinata asks Kageyama, dragging out the 'e'. Kageyama sighs, as this was Hinata's fifth time asking to go into the macaroon shop.
"No, what if someone from school sees us?"
As soon as those words left Kageyama's mouth, Hinata rolls his eyes back.
"No one will care if they see us. Plus, I'm hungry!" Hinata says, in hopes that Kageyama would just give in and say yes. Kageyama lets out another sigh and bites his lip, one of his habits that Hinata personally loves, as his eyes move from Hinata, to the shop, and back to Hinata. He runs a hand through his hair, another one of his habits that Hinata adores.
"Fine. Let's go in, idiot."
Hinata feels a big smile grow on his face, grabs Kageyama's hand, and pulls him into the shop.
Hinata walks all around the shop, dragging Kageyama behind him. He looks around, scanning the shelves on the walls of the shop that had all types of different knick-knacks on them. But the only thing Kageyama was looking at was Hinata. He let his eyes trail down from his orange hair, which he loved to play with and run his fingers through, to his hand that was grabbing his and pulling him all around the shop. He felt a small smile grow on his face as he thought about all the things he loved about the shorter boy.
Kageyama was so deep in thought that he hadn't realized Hinata had stopped dragging him and they were in front of the cashier ordering their macaroons. Hinata snaps his fingers in Kageyama's face to get his attention and he shakes his head a little, blinking a few times.
Hinata drags his finger across the glass. Kageyama stands behind him and peeks over his shoulder, scanning the different flavors of macaroons on display.
"I would like the passion fruit one, the gingerbread one, and the white chocolate mint one." Hinata says, after taking a good 5 minutes trying to decide what 3 flavors to choose to go in the box. He gives the person working there a kind smile as they nod and turn around to get their box and a latex glove to start putting Hinata's 3 macaroons in.
Kageyama's arms snake around the smaller boy's waist and he pulls him closer, resting his chin on his shoulder. Hinata, surprised at how affectionate Kageyama was being due to the fact that he was very shy about their relationship, let out a small cough.
"What are you doing?" Hinata tried to whisper, being as soft as he could so that the worker wouldn't hear him.
"What, I can't show my boyfriend how much I love him? I'm trying to be romantic, dumbass." Kageyama says, responding in the same whisper. Hinata took his bottom lip between his teeth.
"You're such a nerd." Hinata says, trying to prevent a smile from crawling onto his face, but failing. Kageyama places a kiss on his cheek and the worker turns around, as they had just finished putting Hinata's 3 macaroons in the box. Hinata feels himself turn a deep shade of red.
With his arms still loosely wrapped around his boyfriend's waist, Kageyama says his order, not taking as long as Hinata.
"I'll have the Columbian coffee, the orange chocolate, and the coconut one please." Kageyama says. The worker turns around again to put Kageyama's macaroons in the box. Hinata lets his eyes wander around the shop and his eyes land on the menu, which had all of the prices listed on it, that was placed on one of the walls on the other side of the counter. Hinata turns his head to Kageyama a bit, his strawberry scented hair, due to him sharing a shampoo with Natsu and her preference to fruity smelling shampoos, brushing against Kageyama's nose.
"These things are pretty expensive." Hinata says, using the same whisper he had previously used. Kageyama looks over at the menu to see the prices to realize that their box of 6 would cost quite a bit.
"Okay, that's why I'll be paying." Kageyama says. Hinata furrows his eyebrows.
"No you won't, I'm paying." He says shortly after. Kageyama tries not to do what he usually would've done, which would be to scream at him for being a dumbass and to just let him pay, and calmly inhales.
"Hinata, I'm paying."
"No, I am!"
"No! I am!"
By this point, their whispers had turned into shouts and Kageyama no longer had his arms wrapped around Hinata's waist. They were both rapidly searching for some money in their wallets, even though they weren't exactly sure how much everything was going to cost.
As soon as Hinata was about to counter back, he and Kageyama acknowledged the worker, which was patiently waiting for them to quiet down, with their small box in hand. The box was now decorated with a hot pink ribbon that was tied around it.
"Your total is ¥1675.44." They say, a small smile on their face. Hinata and Kageyama look up for a second, but it doesn't take them long to go back to quickly searching for money. Hinata beats Kageyama to it and he slams the money down on the counter.
"I'm paying." Hinata says one last time before grabbing the box and walking off to look for a table. The worker was about to collect the money, but Kageyama quickly slides it back. He looks for the rest of the money he didn't have ready to pay with before and sets that money down instead, taking Hinata's back. Without asking any question, the worker collects the money.
"Thank you." Kageyama says and slightly nods his head. He turns around and walks towards the table Hinata was impatiently sitting at. He had been playing with the ribbon tied around the box, his fingers intertwining with the fabric.
As soon as Kageyama pulled out his chair to sit, the ribbon was undone and the box was open. Hinata grabbed the open box and let his eyes wander across the 6 different flavors they had ordered, and the excitement was written all over his face. Kageyama pulled his phone out and did something he did almost every time he went out with Hinata. He snapped a quick picture of him looking down at the macaroon box and stared at it under the table, admiring the way his orange hair fell down above his eyelids. Hinata never noticed when Kageyama took off-guard pictures of him and for the second time today, Hinata snaps his fingers in Kageyama's face to get his attention. Kageyama quickly averts his eyes from his phone screen to have them meet with Hinata's warm brown eyes.
"C'mon Kageyama! We have to eat them before they get cold!" Hinata says, his hungry eyes wandering happily over the bite sized snacks.
Kageyama paused for a moment, rethinking what Hinata just said.
"They don't get cold, dumbass!" Kageyama says, realizing what Hinata said made no sense.
Hinata doesn't respond, his greedy hands reaching for one of his selected macaroons. Kageyama quickly slapped his boyfriend's hand away from the decorated box. But as quick as his hand moved to slap him, he dove to get his own macaroon, shove it in his mouth, and laugh at Hinata's perplexed expression. Kageyama eventually stopped laughing, but had a smug grin on his face as he chewed his Columbian coffee macaroon. Hinata narrowed his eyes at Kageyama and copied his actions. He reached for his gingerbread macaroon and shoved it in his mouth. Except instead of having a grin on his face like Kageyama did, Hinata kept his eyes narrowed.
"Dang, this tastes good." Hinata says while chewing, trying to keep his 'angry' face. Kageyama swallows his macaroon, still keeping the smug grin on his face. Hinata reached for his passion fruit macaroon and was about to do the same he did with his last macaroon, but Kageyama quickly stops him for the second time today.
"Wait. We need to savor it." Kageyama says with a straight face as he reaches over to put his hand on Hinata's arm. Hinata's hand was already on his macaroon and he was getting ready to eat it, but he freezes and slowly looks up. He stares at Kageyama with a blank expression and Kageyama stares back, waiting for Hinata to say something. Realizing he wasn't going to be saying anything, Kageyama continues.
"These are good. We shouldn't just shove them into our mouth and swallow them. We should enjoy every bite we take out of each one of them." Kageyama says, slowly taking his hand off Hinata's arm.
"Plus, these were expensive." Kageyama mutters under his breath, but it wasn't loud enough for Hinata to hear. Kageyama reaches for his orange chocolate macaroon and Hinata slowly grabs for his passion fruit one.
"Small bites." Kageyama warns as he slowly takes his second macaroon out of the box, Hinata keeping the blank expression on his face but doing the same. They both bring the macaroon up to their lips and Kageyama takes a small bite out of his macaroon. Hinata does the same shortly after and on his face was a sour expression not long after he bit into his macaroon. He looks at his boyfriend to see he had the same expression on his face.
"This tastes bad!" Hinata says, trying to force himself to swallow what he had in his mouth.
"Mines tastes like shit!" Kageyama says after he had swallowed the small bite he took. Hinata sighs.
"Guava! It tastes like guava!" Hinata says, almost shouting.
"You hate guava."
"I hate guava!"
This time, its Kageyama's turn to sigh.
"Guava tastes better than shit." Kageyama mumbles. Hinata glares at his boyfriend.
"I hate guava."
If it weren't for them being in a tiny macaroon shop, they would've both been screaming at each other at this point.
"Guava is better than this!" Kageyama says as he holds up his macaroon, raising his voice a little bit.
"Okay, fine. Let's switch."
Kageyama raises his eyebrows at Hinata, not understanding what he was talking about.
"Huh?" Kageyama asks, tilting his head a bit, his macaroon still in hand.
"Let's switch. I get the orange chocolate one and you get this... this thing they call 'passion fruit'." Hinata says, making sure to put emphasis on the words 'passion fruit'. Kageyama then comes to realization and quickly extends his arm to put his macaroon out in front of him.
"Take it."
Hinata slowly reaches for Kageyama's orange chocolate macaroon and puts his passion fruit one in his hand. Kageyama quickly takes the passion fruit macaroon and Hinata puts the orange chocolate one up to his lip. He and Kageyama took a bite at the same time like they had before. This time, none of them had a sour expression on their face. They both had smiles instead.
"I love guava." Kageyama mutters as he goes in to take another bite.
"This tastes pretty good for being poop." Hinata says, quoting what his boyfriend had said about his macaroon not so long ago. Just not as vulgar.
They both happily finished their switched macaroons and were about to grab their third and last macaroon. Kageyama got his coconut macaroon and Hinata went for his white chocolate mint macaroon. Once again, they took small bites of their macaroon until both of them were done. For the first time, no one was angrily chewing their macaroon while the other had a smug expression on their face and no one was eating a macaroon they switched out with someone else.
Hinata lets out a heavy sigh as he props his elbow up on the table to rest his head on his hand. He scans the walls of the small shop again as Kageyama gets up to throw away their small box, which now consisted of nothing but some differently colored crumbs.
"Let's go." Kageyama says as he stands in front of the table. Hinata quickly looks over to his boyfriend, since he had not noticed he was there before, and pushes his chair back to stand up. As they walk out of the shop, they pass by the worker that had taken their order earlier. Kageyama thanked them one last time as he holds the door open for Hinata to walk out.
While they walk, Kageyama slowly grabs Hinata's hand and intertwines their fingers together. Hinata feels himself turn a light shade of pink and looks down and their hands.
"What, trying to be romantic again?" Hinata says, as if to slightly tease Kageyama. Kageyama tries not to smile and keep a straight face.
"Shut up, dumbass."
They walk in silence for a while, still holding hands, before Hinata decides to break the silence between them.
"By the way, I want my money back."
