warm,

warm,

warm.

WARMNESS is what Alexa most desired as she stood inside the infirmary with shaky hands. The nursing room was so damn cold that her finger tips ranged from shades of black and blue.

The low temperature could produce frost bite, so every half our or so, she'd be allowed to take a short 5 minute break outdoors.

Five minutes to defrost was not enough. The sun wasn't warm enough to shake the cold off, and that drove everyone working inside that building MAD.

It had been a week since her confrontation with Negan. A week since Lucille escaped. In those seven days, a lot had happened.

The day after Negan's exertion of dominance over Alexa, everyone was ordered to meet at the dining hall.

As if the previous day hadn't worn Alexa out enough, being pried out of her room by Dwight and Roxanne at the crack of dawn to partake in Negan's "grand" discourse didn't make matters any better.

The dining room was packed, but that didn't stop strangers from pushing Alexa forward. Once at the front, Roxanne roughly shoved Alexa to the ground.

Exhausted and biter about Roxanne tossing her like a rag doll in front of everyone, Alexa was ready to spring up and violently punch 'Roxy' in the face until a hand from besides her tightly wrapped around her wrist.

When Alexa turned her face left, she saw a dirty man with hair sticking to his forehead. His clothes were raggedy and he could easily pass as one of Negan's men, except his eyes held a look that told her he wasn't a part of the masses.

Unlike Dwight, Elijah, and even Roxanne, he wasn't looking at Negan with that glimmer of fear. No, he stared at Negan's closest army of me with pure hatred.

you got family here?

He very lowly whispered.

Not wanting to be caught talking, Alexa subtly nodded as she scanned the area and saw Jeremy, Bellamy, Jade, and Lucy all on their knees just a couple of feet in front of her.

Besides her own family, another set of individuals were kneeling down. By the looks of horror o their faces as they glanced at one another, Alexa could tell that they too were a family.

Everyone seemed to be terrified, everyone but a teenager with an eye patch. In a group full of doubt, he was the glue and stoic pillar keeping it together.

— bless him.

good, then don't do anything
that could get them killed.

He quickly advised just seconds before the man of the hour, Negan, arrived into the dinning hall with that big stupid grin of his.

With the beautiful Lucille dripping blood from it's metal barb wiring, Alexa wondered what unfortunate soul met their ending.

Despite wanting to still rearrange Roxanne's face, the raggedy man besides her was right — she needed to let her feelings not get the best of her, or her family could very well pay the consequences.

Negan's speech was rather short, but in those few minutes, she got the general idea of his words:

i. everyone was negan's bitch
