Sei's Pov
Noiz had changed since the time I sent him the invitation to the Oval Towers. Aoba Is much less wreckless due to his scrap being... Well, somewhat gone. And I? Well, Toue always considered me as if I was his little brother. I guess he decided one day to build a body just like mine and put my consciousness into it... somehow. They are only coming to Japan again to celebrate the day they first moved to Germany. They do this every year apparently. Since I'm here, they'll be holding a mini celebration at Granny's place to celebrate the day that I came back and the day they first moved to Germany. Not only that, but they offered to take me with them. I said possibly. I never walk around Midorijima, but I do know my way from watching everything from inside the tower with Toue. I don't know my way around Germany, so that might make me feel like things have changed. It might be a good, fresh, new start or it may not be. All I know is that if I move, I will miss everything including Toue.
I could never hate Toue. No matter how many times he had experimented on me, I took it. Even then, I still wanted to break free and leave it all behind. Now that I have the chance to, I don't know whether to take it or not. I want to stay with Toue, but I don't want him to lock me up. Maybe there would be a way to talk this over with him. Even the slightest bit of negotiation could possibly change his mind. Afterall, I'm precious to him, am I not? He told me I was precious to him, and I do feel the same. My intentions were never to hurt Toue. The only thing I wanted was to leave and see my brother. After a while of the abuse, my plans changed. I wanted my brother to kill me. I wanted him to end me. When I was dead, I still somehow felt a longing. A longing to be with my brother, Aoba.
Today all of my cries have been answered. I'm finally with Aoba. Not only that, but I'm able to see Taesan with my own eyes, not a camera's. I'm finally able to see this world for myself. I feel the towers hover so highly over me. They're much bigger than me. They give my stomach almost whirling feel. Not because of their height, but because I'm excited. What if I get to sit on top of them? I get the urge to run.
I sneak a gap into Noiz and Aoba and put my arms on their shoulders.
"Hey guys, wanna run?"
"Why?" Noiz asks.
"I've never felt this way! I finally get to see everything in person. It's exciting me!
I want to run!"
Aoba laughs at me in adoration.
"Okay. Three, two, one, go!"
We all go dashing off into the street sunset and I can't resist the urge to smile. It's because I'm with my brother and running beside tall buildings on a beautifully designed sidewalk that I've only ever got to see. I almost start to laugh. I had been suffering everyday when I could have been feeling this amazing freedom. I actually giggle and we turn a corner.
"Where are we going?" Noiz asks.
"To my place, dummy!"
We all run towards a house that seems familiar. I've seen it before, this is Aoba and Taes place.
"Its been such a while! How do you remember where Tae-sans place is all the time?"
"I mean, I've walked to that house since I was a child, y'know," Aoba answers almost
sarcastically.
We all slow down when we get into the lawn.
"Are you ready, onii-chan? This will be your first time being face to face with Tae."
"I'm ready... I guess..."
"You sound insecure about this. We can wait a while. Noiz and I won't push you to
do something you're not ready for."
"No guys, I swear I'm ready. So please, open the door."
"Alright."
He twists the door handle and I feel my stomach twist into a knot. Was I lying when I swore I was ready? Probably. There's no reason my stomach should be flipping like this other than the fact that I'm not ready. Or maybe I am ready, but just too excited to contain myself. He opens the door and what I see makes my heart feel warm.
"Granny! We brought someone you'd love to seeeee!"
She gasps and walks towards me. Granny grabs my face and stares me in the eyes. She looks like she's about to cry, yet she looks so amazed. Then, she looks at Aoba.
"Is it really... Is it really him?"
Aoba smiles and tilts his head, looking at the ground.
"Hai..."
He says, smiling.
Granny looks back at me, and a single tear drops down her face. She then looks at the ground and before I know it, she stretches her arms around me. I smile and slowly return the favour.
"Awww!"
Aoba and Noiz whine in adoration at the same time. They both start giggling.
"Now I probably won't be Granny's favourite anymore."
"You two are my favourites at the same time. Don't ever say that, Aoba. I love you
alot. Sure, I am a strict lady sometimes, but I love you two and equally. Don't you
ever forget that."
"Granny, I was just joking."
"And I wasn't."
"I love you too, Granny."
"Aoba, do you wanna go into the living room?"
"Sure."
Granny lets go of me and looks up at my face.
"Go sit with them, okay?"
"Okay," I tilt my head and smile.
I follow the same steps they took and walk into the living room and sit down on a couch. Its rather comfortable, but not as comfortable as Toues chairs. Maybe it's because I'm accustomed to somewhat royalty that these chairs don't feel as comfortable and this place seems very small. I have to say though, these are some very comfortable chairs.
"Granny, where's the alcohol?"
Noiz calls. He calls him Granny too? Why? Thats kind of weird... Granny laughs and brings out a bottle of wine. I think I recognize the bottle. Wait, thats it! Sometimes on special occasions Toue would let me drink this. I remember it having a sweet, yet bitter taste. However, I thought it was pretty good.
"I'll go get the wine glasses," Tae says.
"Iya, Granny. I'll get them. Just sit down."
"Alright. But I made brownies for you guys. If you look in the bottom right part of
the fridge you'll find them. Set the brownies on one big plate for them."
"Okay."
Aoba soon comes out with three wine glasses and a plate of brownies.
"Oooh! Those look so good!" I state.
"They are good! Granny's cooking is by far the best!" Aoba smiles.
He sets them down on the table and sits down. Eager to try one, I'm the first one to take a brownie. I plop it in my mouth and pure bliss fills my mouth. It's absolutely delicious. Aoba was right. Even just brownies from Granny taste like heaven. Speaking of Granny... I swallow my brownie quickly, desperate to ask a question.
"Ne, Noiz. Why did you call her Granny?"
"Because me and Aoba are married. It's only proper to call her that now. In fact,
Same-sex marriage hasn't allowed in Germany until very recently." (This is just a book, same sex marriage in Germany doesn't exist in 2016. As you probably know, DRAMAtical Murder takes place in a retro based future.)
"Mhm mhm! Me and Noiz were the second same-sex couple. The first three got
everything they wanted on their wedding completely free! You know what that
means!"
I mean, I knew Noiz and Aoba were a couple, but they're married now?! Wow...Granny smiles proudly. Her grandkid got married. I think that she thinks they're just as cute as a couple as I think they are. They're adorable! Not only that but Noiz seems like a nice man. I'm glad Aoba found someone that he loves.
Aoba pours the wine into our glasses but not Granny's. She probably doesn't drink.
"So you two are staying the month, right?"
"Mhm!"
They both nod because their mouths are full of brownies.
"So it wouldn't hurt if I took a nap right now, right?"
Aoba swallows this brownie quickly.
"Iya iya! Not at all!"
"Alright. I'm going to bed. Goodnight."
Tae walks to her room. It's just the three of us now.
"You swallowed and awfully quick, I wonder where you got that training from,
hmm?" Noiz says.
We all start laughing. What a dirty joke.We chug down wine and Aoba refills our glasses all over again. Even though I'd like to say alcohol and drinking isn't my thing, this has got to be one of the best days of my life. Maybe Aoba and Noiz could show me more. Maybe they could even stay in Japan.
I yawn. But not because the thought of being shown more bores me, it's because I'm getting a little tired.
"Getting tired already, huh?"
"I mean it's kind of late."
"Yeah, he's right. It's almost midnight."
"Really? I didn't even notice."
"I'm getting tired too. Lets go to bed. But first let's ask Granny which bedrooms she
set up."
He puts everything away then goes to Granny's room and knocks on the door.
"Granny, did you set up any rooms?"
"Yeah. I set your room up where it used to be and the one beside it for Noiz. Since Sei
is here he can sleep in the guest one and you two can sleep in your old bedroom."
"Okay. Guys come here. Shut the lights off while your down there too."
We do as Aoba says and he shows us to the rooms we'll be sleeping in.
I lay down on the bed and instantly fall alseep.
