You will have to get a very secure place to stay. If you're staying in a house you will need to board up the Windows and the doors you don't use. The door or doors you do use will need to be locked and secure zombies can come in at any second. When in a place with an outside area put at least three gates around completely. In a hotel or apartment building you probably won't clear every floor but clear as many as possible and be close to a door incase you need to escape.
