Chapter 1:

Grace POV

I woke up on a August morning to the smell of pancakes coming from my mom's kitchen. I slowly got up and walked towards the kitchen. Steven, my mom's fiancé, was reading a newspaper.

    "Hi sweetie", my mom said when she noticed I walked in.

    "Hi Mom", I replied as I sat down at the table. She placed a plate of pancakes and gave me a kiss on the head.

    "Did you sleep well", Steven asked.

    "Yes", I replied.

    "Remember to have your bag packed for your dad's tonight", Mom told me. We soon finished breakfast and headed to the Richard Rodger's Theatre where my parents perform in Hamilton. We got to to the theater and headed to my mom's dressing room. I put my bag down.

    "Mom, can I go see Dad?" I asked.

    "Of course, sweetie", she replied as she got ready for the show. I went to my dad's dressing room and knocked on the door.

    "Come in", my dad replied from the other side of the door.

    "Hey Dad", I said as I walked inside.

    "Hey baby, come here". I walked over and gave him a hug.

    "How's Vanessa and Sebastian?"

    "They're great, They can't wait to see you tonight". I soon left to let him get ready for the show. After the matinée, Vanessa picked me up to go back to my dad's.

    "Are you excited for school next week?" Vanessa asked me as she drove.

    "I guess, I'm just nervous", I said while reading my book in the backseat.

    "You're gonna be fine! You're such a sweet girl Gracie".

    "Thanks V". We soon arrived and took the elevator to the apartment. I came in and the babysitter was playing with my brother.

    "Sebbie!" I exclaimed and ran towards him. He giggled and I played with him a little before dinner. We had dinner and watched a movie after dinner. I went to sleep.

    The next morning, my dad was watching a kids tv show with Sebastian. I got a text from my mom that said Good Morning Sweetie :) . I smiled and replied back. I sat down at the table and Vanessa handed me some pancakes. I said thank you and began to eat them. It was my dad's day off.

    "Gracie, I was thinking we could go out to lunch in a few hours", Dad said to me as I finished my breakfast.

    "Sounds great, Dad", I replied.

1 week later

I woke up at my mom's on the first day of school. I was nervous about how people were gonna treat me because of my parents. I got dressed for school and walked into the kitchen with my backpack.

    "Hey sweetie", my mom said as she set down a plate with eggs and toast. She kissed my head and sat down next to me. The doorbell rang and my dad came in,

    "You ready to go to school, Gracie?" Dad asked. I shrugged and finished my breakfast. They dropped me off at school and I walked into the building towards the fifth grade classroom. I put my backpack in my locker and sat down at my desk. School was pretty uneventful until lunch. I sat down next to my two best friends and pulled out my lunch bag, I unpacked it and began to eat my sandwich when a girl named Lexi came over.
