Soulmates. A tricky concept, especially in Hogwarts. Draco Malfoy strutted through the halls as if he owned them, and made sure to tease Potter every damn time he saw the other. He didn't even blink an eye when his Soul Tattoo appeared on his eighteenth birthday, smirking as he saw it was a shape of a coiled serpent, green and black ink glaring together.
Harry hated Draco, and the way he glared at him and teased him every chance he got. He was a tad bit younger than the blonde. He had his Soul Tattoo, but it was hard to make out what it was yet.
Draco didn't flaunt his Tattoo, kind of hard to based on its location anyways. He continued just like he normally would, bullying Potter and nothing else extremely interesting.
Harry hadn't showed anyone his tattoo. He easily could, as it was right below his collarbones. But he was almost scared to.
One day, Harry was cornered by Draco. He attempted to shove the blonde off.
Draco chuckled at the boy. "You're weak, Potter. Has the permanent break from saving the Wizarding World made you lazy?"
"I'm not weak, now sod off, Malfoy." Harry growled, pushing him back.
Draco's loose shirt slipped to the side, pale collarbone and Soul Tattoo revealed. "Me, sod off?" He laughed, fixing his shirt quickly.
Harry stopped, staring at the tattoo while it was uncovered. It had the same shape as his, and the same color... no, he was making things up, he decided. He only saw it for a few seconds.
Draco waved a hand in front of his face. "Wow, Potter. You space out too?" He chuckled.
"I... just..." Harry shook his head, mentally slapping himself in the face. He turned to try to push past him and walk away.
Draco put out a hand to stop Harry. "Stuttering too? Oh my, we're just a mess today aren't we?"
"What's your fucking problem, Draco?! You've hated me for what, seven years now? Isn't that good enough?" Harry spat. "Just because I didn't shake your fucking hand?"
Draco's jaw physically tightened. "Don't think you know how my life works, Potter."He growled, quickly turning on his heel and stalking away.
"I..." Harry bit his lip. He sighed, walking the opposite direction. Later that evening, he was staring into the mirror after his shower. He looked at his Soul Tattoo, shaking his head. There was no way...
Draco of course didn't think about this, because he had never seen Harry's Tattoo. He had taken a shower and everything, and now laid on his bed and replayed what had happened today.
Harry decided he had to get another look at Draco's tattoo, but he didn't know how. He sighed, going to bed. He'd think about it tomorrow.
Draco had turned off the light, but couldn't sleep, memories of the past seven years haunted him. Dumbledore's death, the invasion in Malfoy Manor, it all was too much.
Harry remembered it all as well. One thing stuck out to him. Why didn't Draco turn him in the second he saw him at the Manor? He had to have known it was him...
Draco eventually got his mind to stop whizzing, and drifted slowly into unconsciousness.

The next day, Harry decided he was going to do the stupidest thing he could do. He was going to confront Draco.
Draco had walked easily to classes without confrontation, but wasn't surprised when he saw Potter was going to intercept his path.
Harry grabbed the blonde's wrist and drug him into the bathroom. He pushed him against the wall. "Why did you protect me?" Harry asked, forcefully and out of breath. "In the Manor, why did you protect me?"
