"Can you please tell me, it's a dream, isn't it? This is a dream.."
She just smiled (just smiled?!?) after I showed my confusion.
"I'll explain everything. Everything, Kate, everything."
"Then I suppose you could start now," I said.
"What do you want to know first?"
"Where am I?" I asked, in a straight-forward way.
"Earth. You're on the earth, Kate. This is earth, not dimensionally the same with where you're living now, though. But this IS Earth."
With questions still in my mind, I started looking around. This is Earth?? No way... foggy, no sun, no clouds, this isn't earth. There's no way this could be earth.
We went on the familiar house again. The boy's not present. We were standing at the door, looking outside.
"I can't even recognize, if it's morning or night. How could this be earth, Ae-ya? I still don't understand. Am I a superhero? Am I in a different planet with aliens and villains? This is unreal .. " I said. I looked at her, and she's still looking outside.
"Yes, kate. What you see is unreal. You really cannot identify morning from night. You really can't because what you see is unreal. Now, do you wanna see the real paradise, Kate? We used to call this place paradise. " She lifted her hand. And... And .. And EVERYTHING.. EVERYTHING CHANGED. THE WHOLE PLACE CHANGED !!
Now I can see the sun, I can feel it's hotness. I can see everything clearly now. Before I thought it is the only house standing, but now there are more houses everywhere, with the same structure. There are other people, too. Boys, girls, children, adults, women, men, I could see all of the kind. they have the same clothes, the same with Ae-ya's and the boy's. But there's something wrong with them. They're dirty. They all have scratches, wounds, blood, on their faces and whole body. It's like they've gone to a fight. And the trees !! Oh, the trees, the trees were burning !! The land's too dry !!
"What's wrong with this place? Is there a war?!?" I looked at Ae-ya. She, too, looked sad by the scene. I can see the worry in her eyes.
"No Kate, this is worse than a war."
She grabbed my hand inside the house and closed the door.
"Listen carefully kate." She sat down on the floor, I followed.
"Like what I said, this is Earth. Not dimensionally the same with the Earth you're living in. The two dimensions are connected, in a way that what's happens here will happen to where you live, but not in the same situation. If people die here because of hunger, people on your place will die, too, but in a different reason. That's how they're connected."
She looke away for a while.
"This is not like this before. Ka-ai's father rules this place by that time. He holds the only weapon, the only power of equilibrium in this place. it's the sword you now own. The sword controls the balance of water, of fire, of land, of thunder. All is well and balanced. All those elements are possessed by the sword."
"Then why did-"
"The time came when Ju-deon, Ka-ai's father's only bestfriend, killed him, and stole the sword. This place's equilibrium was destroyed. By that time I was too worried, I encouraged Ka-ai, having his father's spirit, to fight Ju-deon. But the best thing he had to do is to destroy the sword itself. He succeeded to destroy it, but all the elements scattered throughout this place. And the worst thing .. "
"What?!? there's worst ?"
"Ju-deon got the element fire- the most powerful of all the elements."
"What do you mean?"
"When the elements scattered it became independent swords. And the element we're holding now, is the element wind."
"Then what am I doing here?"
"That's the question i am waiting for. Kate, people here, I, Ka-ia, can't use a sword with a powerful element. People like you, from the other dimension, are the ones who can use it. Fire and wind, are elements, which can't be used by the people here."
"Then the fire element .. "
"Yes. Ju-deon already have the instrument- a person from your world- and is already using the power of the sword against us. "
I was shocked. Who was the one holding the fire sword then? And, why does it have to be me, anyway?
"Why does it have to be me?" I asked.
"By the time, you were born, that's the time, we're seeking a living soul from your dimension. By the time you turned seven, that's the time we're testing your sight, when you saw the bird we sent and you followed it. By the time your mother died, we've already known what you're capable of."
