*Poppy's birthday*

I got home from my normal day at school, and walked into the living room, no one was there. That's funny, their cars are home, they're usually in the lounge when I get home. I checked all round the house and couldn't find them anywhere.

"Mum, Dad! Where are you?" I shouted.

No response.

I wandered up to my room area, I reached the top of the stairs and there where streamers, banners and everything.

"Happy Birthday Poppy!" Mum and dad shouted in unison.

I stood at the top of the stairs in shock, mouth wide open.

"Catching flies again Pop" dad laughed.

I closed my mouth and looked around my room. They had re-decorated it when I was at school. They had painted all the walls a light mint colour, a huge -probably around 46-50"- television in white propped up on the wall, with the two white corner sofas how I wanted them, with a thin pink blanket over the back of it. There was also a white treasure chest looking thing sat each side of the sofa. I went over and opened one of them up and it was filled with white and light pink soft fluffy blankets, I then went and checked the other one and it was filled with the same coloured fluffy cushions and pillows. There where white fairy lights all around the room.

This room was a girls dream room. I'm so blessed that I could have it.

I ran up to my mum and dad and hugged them tightly. "Thank you, thank you, thank you" I smiled jumping up and down. "It's perfect!"

"This isn't all of it" mum smiled.

"What? I didn't want any more! This is enough! Beyond enough in fact" I said.

"Come with me" she smiled holding her hand out, I took it while she dragged me to the garden, while dad followed.

"Wait here" dad said holding his hands out. "Oh, and close your eyes"

I did as he said when him and mum walked off somewhere. I heard them walking back shortly after.

"Keep your eyes tightly closed" dad said.

I put my hands over my eyes so he knew they where shut and I couldn't see anything. "Sally, she's ready!"

I kept my eyes closed as I heard my mum approach. I felt something nudge me leg but I knew I had to keep my eyes closed, I really wanted to open them though.

"Ok, you can open them" my dad said.

I obeyed and looked to the ground and saw a Great Dane puppy, it was still pretty big though, it came up to my knee.

"Happy birthday sweetie! We know you prefer dogs like: Border Collies and Greyhounds, but we thought, he could protect you better if anything where to happen" dad smiled.

"You didn't have to!" I laughed hugging mum and dad once again, the dog jumping up to join in. "Does it have a name?"

"No, he doesn't, we left that up to you" mum smiled.

"Yay! I like the name Max" I smiled sitting down to cuddle the pup.

"That's a great name" my parents smiled. "Well, we have to go grocery shopping now, wanna come?"

"Nah I think I'll stay here with max" I smiled.

"Ok, see you in a bit" mum smiled before they both walked off into the house.

I can't believe this, this has been the best birthday ever! Completely new room, and a freaking Great Dane puppy!

I stood up and took Max off his lead to let him run around, he was so funny to watch as he was still getting to grips with his height and weight, he was tumbling and playfully running around the whole garden. He was perfect! And plus, mum and dad where right, if I ever did get into trouble when he's with me, say: my bullies. He would be there to protect me, if they even dare come near with a dog by my side that's the size of a pony.

I walked into the house and Max followed. "Wanna go for a walk?" I asked excitedly to him. He bounced around while I clipped on his lead.

I wrote a note for my parents then headed out of the door, locking it behind me. As I was new to this street, I was careful with where we went. I kept Max on a short lead as we walked down the path heading towards a large field where I could let him have a longer lead.

"Well, well. Look who we have here" a familiar voice echoed as we reached the field.

I turned around to see the two people I didn't want to see. My bullies. I was sort of glad Max was here, but he was still a pup so he didn't know what was going on, so he wasn't going to be much help. Or so I thought. I turned around to face the boys.

"We've come to see your little puppy" one of them said. He reached out to touch Max, but to my surprise he barked and went to bite him.

I hid the smile that was forming on my face and pulled Max back away from him. The boys seemed scared. Which was brilliant.

"We'll get you Poppy. You can't take him everywhere with you!" He said before they both ran off.

I knelt down and praised Max, handing him a treat I picked up before leaving the house. "Lets head back home" I smiled getting up and leading him back to our house.

I haven't really told you about my bullies yet. You only know them as 'the bullies.' Well, there's two of them, if you hadn't already guessed. There's one, with dark brown short hair that's quiffed up to the side a bit, he has brown eyes, and named Cameron Dallas. The other one, he also has brown hair, just a bit darker than Cameron's, his head is just pushed to the side, he has light blue eyes and his name is Nash Grier. I have never done anything wrong to them, in fact, I have never even spoken to them before. They where the reason I never spoke to people now, I always used to be loud and talk to whoever spoke to me, but now, I can't even face talking to anyone bar from my mum and dad.

We reached the house and I took my shoes off before throwing the note I left mum and dad in the bin and heading off to my new room with Max. I got out all the blankets, duvets and pillows and arranged them comfortably, grabbing the remote for the television and getting under one of the blankets and snuggling up to Max. Soon enough I fell asleep with Max laying right by my side.
